@@WiKiTWoNKa HI...it was long ago,and I looked into many things,unfortunately my problem was a faulty petrol pump.When heats up,problems.Cooler weather ...better performance.So after changing it,the problem gone.

@@heliosismagic I have a new fuel system including the pump and all the wiring the only thing I have not changed is the EGR valve and the idle position sensor thing or maybe it's called throttle position sensor but yeah just those two things so I'm going to start off with cleaning the EGR valve and see what that does. It may take a while to get around to doing it but I will keep in touch

Hi again. I've got the haynes repair manual for the astro/safari today, and in that it says about cleaning the EGR valve: "CAUTION: Never wash the valve in solvents or degreaser - both agents will permanently damage the diaphragm." (chapter 6-20) I personally would have changed the valve anyway, but maybe someone else would get kinda upset about it if they kill their EGR valve because of your advise, so just a head's-up about that. Also, the engine stalled really sudden after i did this, so i don't know if the WD-40 had come into the electrics in the valve maybe, and that might be another risk about this method? Anyway, i just wanted to let you know about this since your video did help me find the problem in the first place.

It could be the ignition coil. Sometimes on ignition coil will get cracks in the wiring, and when it’s cold, it makes electrical contact, but when it’s hot, it expands to the point where it can’t make a spark anymore.

@@hoohoohoblin A funny thing after I had ordered my EGR from RockAuto I discovered that after a certain year Chevy stopped using the EGR valvle. My model (2004) has no EGR valvle! Sent that back to Rock Auto. I have replaced a number of things already including the coil to no avail. I am ready to take it into the shop.

Joe Zuerlein I made it out of a piece of thin sheet metal put alittle permatex black sealant and good to go . However the Van has since died blew a head gasket then upon taking off the manifold saw the cam was real worn so I sadly junked it.I should have just put another engine it Ugh.

+scorpio cabrera It could. If it gets stuck open, the engine will stall when idling. It will stay running when it is revved up, but when you let off the gas it will stall.

So do you think its the EGR or we might have a fuel pump problem? it only stays on when its being reved

Ibrahim Atiyeh I haven't seen a 1995 engine, but I would guess that it is on the intake manifold somewhere. You should be able to find it if you follow the hoses. Do a search for the part on Autozone to see what it looks like, and then look on your engine for something similar.

That's clever! Oven cleaner is designed to remove baked-on gunk, so I'm sure it works great.

That could be a stuck EGR valve. When mine was stuck, the engine had a hard time idling and it would stall, unless I could keep it revving really high. Otherwise I would suspect a bad ignition coil or plug wires, but you already replaced those. Make sure the plug wires are securely connected. Doing the EGR valve won't cost you anything. The gasket should be reusable, but I recommend getting a gasket with a mesh screen in it like this one: @cBUds9Nypmc

@@hoohoohoblin hey that's cool, a couple of years is better than a couple of days or a couple of months but I think I'd be willing to try to do that. My 1992 GMC Safari whenever I started up I have to hold the gas for a few minutes just so that way it will idle and I'm wondering if this is the culprit I have replaced everything except for this and the idle control thing of a jigger that's on the side of the throttle body. Any advice? Do you think maybe this might fix it if I try your method? Or maybe the idle control sensor thingamajigger? I'm all ears 🤗

You need to use something strong enough to break up carbon buildup.

***** The reason why is, the engine you have is a TBI engine, and not a 4.3 vortec like the 95 and up. (it is a 4.3 tho) the 4.3 vortec that is 96 and up will have the EGR valve up front by the thermostat.

Joseph Mckay No problem, I know a lot about the 4.3 vortec's. what you might wanna keep a eye on is on them there common to blow intake gaskets in the front of the engine, and in the rear. If you start loosing coolant make sure to try to find the leak, and the other only problem I know of is the Spider injectors go bad. It will cause a hard start, a miss fire, and it running badly. or it can even cause a no start.

I used WD40 and let it soak a while.

MrJohnnyutah001 Follow the linkage from where the pedal linkage goes through the firewall to the engine. I bet something is stuck in the linkage causing problems. Do you have any missing wrenches or nuts and bolts. Something must be stuck somewhere in the linkage between the gas pedal and the engine. Once I rebuilt the carbs on my motorcycle and lost a bolt. I replaced it with a new one, and when I took it for a test ride, the throttle stuck wide open because the bolt was jammed in the throttle linkage. Thank God for kill switches. I bet it's something like that.

That must have been comical... Yup your right somehow I kinked the throttle linkage. Easy fix. My first thought was there was some kind of pedal blockage safety thingy put in by the manufacturer if its not put back together properly. Any other problems with this engine I should keep an eye out for?

+Ibrahim Gaad that could be from the EGR valve. Or it could be something more serious. Cleaning out the valve doesn't cost any money, and it is pretty easy to do, so I would try that first.

I have to chime in here! I sure hope allot of people read your comment! Did you get hit by an illegal who didn't have insurance?? Blame your government folks! Don't blame the illegal! The US Government allowed corporations to bring multitudes of illegals here in the mid 90s! The billboard signs are still up in Mexico i am told. When they were bought over here on companybusses by corporations across the border as patrol at the border looked the other way! When they got here, they obtained the jobs that Bush replied were the ones nobody wanted!! Remember that?? I sure as hell do! When they got here, they applied for and were issue an IT# on a card from the IRS that allowed them to pay taxes. Next, and this is the significant part of this post, they were allowed to obtain drivers licenses which in turn, allowed them to buy Insurance! That's right! Insurance! Later for some stupid reason, the government took away their drivers license by simply making it illegal to renew them after a certain date that was passed! So, once again, as unlicensed drivers, they cant legally get insurance because insurance companies,(and i speak for most of them), wont insure a non-licensed driver! Make sense now why most don't have insurance? You should be blaming who? They bought insurance when they had a drivers license! At least half did! This Is not one of the smartest things the government ever did on several levels? Insurance lost all that revenue, Government lost a means of ID records on the masses from the system, caused severe hardships on the very people they allowed to be brought into the country in the first place, and i could go on! Well, now those people still have to get around at some point! Work, doctors, groceries, they have to go to immigration review offices usually 60 to 100 miles away once a month to once a year! Think you could get by with no transportation, with a family just getting started in a new country with no home of your own and no stability in your new found surroundings! I just doubt it!! Unless your living off the system instead of working. These people aren't lazy! They work and are proud to go pave their own way and make their living! They need transportation as much as anyone and most would buy insurance if they had a drivers license and could do so! Now think about that! Government took the drivers license so now they cant get insurance! You got hit and of course they had no insurance and you just out of luck on collecting any revenue to help pay the bills! Hmmmmmm! Get real! Why do i advocate so intensely? Because right is right, and wrong is wrong and i know a government blackballing when i see one and i was raised better than that! This is not the country i grew up in and people were not treated so unfairly all the years i can remember before that! I remember when things were a little too charitable in this country but government officials had integrity to do the right thing in this country and you knew they would even to the point of excess in some instances!
