using those cotton ear buds fiber on the cotton can be left on the lens, there has to be something better than isopropyl alcohol.

Sure buy an optical lens cleaning disc for $20 😂 You can also get electronics swabs hey are like q tips but the material is made for electronics so it doesn’t leave lint etc You can also get specialty lens cleaner prolly $15 In all honesty this will work just be gentle

My player is having trouble loading about 1/4 of all the dvds and blu rays. The other 3/4 is no problem. But I'll try this

@@tokanyu_ Na, it was easy to do but unfortunately no change in the sound so I have purchased a refurbished 2nd hand CD player but now that one is doing it as well only at the start, funny thing is when I use my record player it does not happen only when I play a CD.

My CD player was skipping. When cleaning the lens, it may also be prudent to apply a small amount of suitable lubrication to the lens carriage if it doesn't move freely.

Great video. Simple and informative. I've tried this to no avail. It usually works, but lately my player is only recognizing DVDs and not blu rays. This problem started when th machine was only 4 wks old. I am so frustrated. As we all know, it's usually a dirty disc or lens. I am stumped. Is there anything else I can do? Is th blu ray laser "fried"? Is it possible for that to happen to a new unit? It seems like today's manufacturing companies use shoddy components within..I can hear my spindle trying to work...I am reticent to take it apart. However, none of these issues occur when I play DVDs..just blu rays...I just recently made the jump outta the Stone age(to blu), as it were...and it really sucks to not find an answer on any sites I post this..please help. Is it possible to try playing the disc with the spindle cover off?? I'd like to see if the laser is even lighting... can't tell, after exhausting every option, if this is a common problem. Any info/help you can offer is greatly appreciated....😟📀

Same here I have two blue ray players from 2009 which both fail to ready blue rays but can play dvds fine

back then i would have recommended to bring the device back to the shop and swap it for another one. today i just hope you found a way to play blu rays haha

I've done it that way n it's not as simple as u say my first dvd player I cleaned that way the q tip snagged the lens n screwed it up I had to replace my dvd player the player I got now sometimes the dvd will stall I use the disc cleaner with the little brushes on it which I've had for 20 years I know I need a new one but it cleans the lens so I can watch a dvd

How would I “turn up the laser” as you mentioned? One Panasonic blu-ray player will not play several discs but my other Panasonic player will.

There is a small screw on the laser assembly that can be adjusted. It is a little different for each player. You will want to refer to the service manual for what you are doing.

Ah, this was very useful…So to get access to the laser assembly, you simply lift the flap and slide the assembly backwards. Your hand obscured the moment, but I think we got the gist. Many thanks.

Some lasers have a screw for adjusting the intensity, but it tends to burn out shortly after doing so.

I have an Integra dbs-50.3 thx blu-ray Player. I have the SAME DVD's & Blu-Rays which, now, will play sometimes and sometimes not play. Upon inserting the Disk the front display will first show "Loading" and then automatically go to "Play" followed by the initiation of the timer (timestamp). When it decides to not play, the display shows "Loading" and then "Play" BUT then goes to -- -- -- where the timestamp should be. You can hear the system trying to read it / spin it and then it gives up. With that being said, do you think it is a dirty lens. P.S. Can you get access to the lens through the Disk front port? Also, would blowing air on the lens be a first-try before touching it with anything?

Only when you throw it into your eyes!

If the unit is switched off, the laser won't be able to turn on. Lasers can indeed be bad for the eyes though.

Like a professional camera I don't think you should never touch the lens unless you want to leave residue or marks.

I cleaned the lens on my 1991 laserdisc player. Yeah have it 31 years. It came out of storage semi working but recently stopped reading.opened it up cleaned the lens Q tip and alcohol now reads most discs. Some I have since the 1980s.

Great help dude. But just suposse you have camera lens that get dirty by accident.. - Option A. chuck it away . - Option B. Give it a try to clean it. P.S. In the scenario you have limited money and income!

Most cleaning solutions should be ok, just don't let anything besides the lens get wet.

Distilled water be best to use. Rubbing alcohol is too harsh.

Wouldn't it be safer for most to just buy a cleaning disc? Inexperienced folks should not be messing around inside the cabinets of electronic components.

@@XmanXman-jd3ts I understood your point, just didn't respond with enough clarity. What I meant was, when I have playback issues, I find the disc is usually most responsible. I do have a cleaning disc but, as you indicated, they don't seem to really do much.
