I am working on refining Asana for my team. I know you love the priemum version. It looks great but since I have a small budget and multiple team members it is not feasible for me to pay per person for each team member. Therefore, I decided to figure out some work arounds for better transparency and management. The issue I have with My tasks is that no one can see them except me and I cannot see anyone elses. I want my team to have a certain level of autonomy to organize their section the way they want to so I created projects for each team member that they are required to tag with their to do list. My admin uses the "my task" layout so I decided to figure out a better way to help her organize her "my tasks". I found this helpful but I will say that I disagree about removing due dates from tasks like "GST return" because these items are due at specific times per year so for those type of things I use a monthly calendar task for our team and for me personally so I can see everything at a glance with the calendar view. I think ideas and future planning is important and if you don't give it a timeline then it just does not get done. I learned this the hard way when I created side projects with my team that NEVER GOT ACCOMPLISHED. They weren't important but I found myself really annoyed at not having timelines attached to all tasks. For the items without due dates, we only use this for non tasks- such as procedures or protocols or staff meeting topics. Items that will never have a due date.

I have messed up my "My Tasks" with sections I called A priority, B priority, errands, etc grouping tasks according to the LearnDoBecome system of where they are done. many don't have due dates, just things I don't want to forget. So am I understanding you correctly in that the "my tasks" can not have sections that I've made, only "today, upcoming and later"?

Paul, thanks for all your videos. They are so helpful. Can you tell me how you get your tasks to move automatically? I have a recurring daily task that is not showing up in my TODAY section. It seems I have to move everything manually each day. I thought that recurring items or those with today's due date would auto-populate there. Am I missing something?

Hey Paul, big fan of your connect. I'm wondering, what if you're assigned a project/task but with no date as the dates are on the subtasks under that task. this still appears on your task list but doesn't really have a due date. where would you put that task?

Great Video. Can you change Titles in "my tasks"? For example: Instead of "Today, upcoming and later." I would like titles to be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday etc..

Hi Paul, One thing I have noticed with having the same task appear in multiple projects, is that if the Task is marked for LATER, it will come through to the LATER Section in My Tasks, multiple times, as the LATER section sorts your tasks by projects. So if you have the same task appear in say Projects: CALENDAR, KANBAN & PROJECTS, and that task is marked to LATER in My Tasks, it will actually appear 3 times in LATER. Have you found a way around this? Thanks!

Hi Paul, great tips, and I love your videos! I have a questions and I can't seem to find my answer so I hope you can help. I shorted out my task's into the three sections as you suggest. Due Today, Upcoming (this week), Due later, and I am great at managing my recently assigned task's, putting them in the correct sections my issue seems to be some task are moving up based on due date while others are still sitting in Due later but yet their Due today. I thought it would automatically move up the sections as the due date comes closer, so all items in my Due Later would move to my Upcoming section when they are a week out and the Tasks in the Upcoming will move into Due Today, this is and isn't working, for some task's they are moving up but I also have some task that I placed into Due Later and they are still sitting their, what am I doing wrong? I thought if I shorted them they would automatically move around based on Due Date.

I've applied the rules but they don't work, I cant work out why.

Has functionality changed? I don't have |New Tasks| - only Recently assigned, Today, etc. - But there is no way it automatically moves a task to another section in tasks.

This was great, thanks, I've been looking for "mind reprogramming audio" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Giyoe Fonogan Builder - (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my partner got cool success with it.
