The following are the treatments for driftwood before adding them to your setup.
1. Wash the driftwood in running tap water with hand and brush. This will help the dust settled on the driftwood washed away.
2. Do not use soap or detergent to wash your driftwood.
3. Tie the driftwood to a small stone as the dried driftwood is very light and can be seen floating if not tied to a stone.
4. Now you can add the driftwood to your aquarium and wait for a week.
5. In a couple of days, you will start seeing white fungus on the wood which is quite normal.
6. usually in shrimp tanks most of the white fungus on driftwood is eaten away by the shrimps itself. White fungus on driftwood is also known as Biofilm.
We will see the driftwood transformation over a week. In a couple of days after you have introduced driftwood to the aquarium, you will start seeing white fungus on them. White fungus on driftwood is also called biofilm on driftwood.
After a week also you will still see some fungus on the driftwood, all you have to do is take a brush and gently clean the white fungus and use a small pipe to mediate the fungus outside with the help of gravity.
