Here I show how I have cleaned my car and truck engines for years. It requires no water, scrubbing, or heavy degreasers. Plus, it protects your belts and hoses.

I use this method on my 1997 Ford T-bird. Tried it by accident after I tried degreaser and low pressure water hose. This improved the look 100 % as the degreaser left a film and I didn't want to use high-pressure water on it. Looks like a new engine compartment as my regular mechanic was totally impressed.

The funny thing is so many people are quick to say this doesn't work without ever trying it. My old 2002 F150 engine looked almost brand new when I traded it in at 238k and 8 years old. I did this a few times a year with no problems at all.

I've done exactly what I show in the video for 20 years without any problems. I completely understand the concern about wanting to cover certain parts and think that if someone is not comfortable with the foam getting on them they should cover them. I've done this long enough now that I don't have any concerns with it getting on any parts which is why I don't cover anything.

@@AllAmericanMack thank you for letting me know that helps me a lot And thank you for replying back to me. I want to make sure that I am clear. You were saying. I can spray that tire shine on the engine bay that includes batteries Alternator, and the fuse box are those going to be alright with out cover it?
@AllAmericanMack
@AllAmericanMack 2 жыл бұрын
Ok, don't use tire shine as those are a different product and are heavily silicone based, I specifically use Armor All brand Tire Foam because I've used other brands in the past and find they don't work as well. I'm not specifically saying you should spray those items just that I do and have never had any problems. I say this because suppose when you spray it you get some on the alternator and 3 months later the alternator goes out. You're going to think that the tire foam likely caused it, even if it didn't so that's why I don't say to just spray everything. However as I said earlier, I do spray everything and always have without any problems for 20 years so it's just not a concern for me.

Right on the mark. Years ago I used water to clean a Ford 2007 Escape engine and the water got into the sparkplug coils. There were 3 sparkplugs on the rear meaning you have to remove the intake manifold to replace. A very expensive repair tire foam may have saved me a ton of money.
@AllAmericanMack

I learned about the tire foam from a large dealership that I did work for almost twenty years ago. There were even less electronics on engines back then and they were still having problems with the water getting into places it shouldn't and causing problems.

It may make it look nicer but it also attracts more dust since the tire foam doesn't actually dry completely. So once you drive the vehicle road dust sticks to all the surfaces more, hence creating gunk and buildup that will in fact cause more issues than it’s worth. I suggest an Orange degreaser and plain water. Be sure to disconnect the battery.

Thank you for showing and your son but, I have to say, this armor all is just going to leave a sticky residue and attract more dirt. 30-40 years ago, when I was working on my own cars, I use to use Gunk. I don't know if they sell it anymore. You would disconnect the battery. Cover all electrical exposed parts with Clephane wrap. Spray Gunk on using pretty much the whole can. Let it soak for 10-15 minutes. Take a garden hose, rinse it off. Tap any wet spots near places like distributor caps etc. Place battery cable back on. Turn engine on and let run till warm. That would dry it off completely. I would get more money when selling a car after that

@@davidg7346 It was a double edged sword when he enlisted. I didn't want him to go, but knew serving his country was an important thing for both him and the country. It was a proud moment watching him and all the others graduate basic training. I forward him these comments because he appreciates the support of people like yourself. He is stationed in a city where there is a huge anti-military sentiment and was actually spit on at the airport on a trip home for his grandmothers funeral. So people like yourself who take the time to write words of encouragement and support really do mean a lot. Thank you again and God bless!!

That’s actually a great idea, since it’s designed for rubber it must condition the hoses/rubber tubing/etc.
@marquisgrissom9129
@marquisgrissom9129 3 жыл бұрын
Well conditioning hoses isn't actually a 'thing'. The heat they recieve from the engine will evaporate that stuff right off. Plus hoses have heated fluids traveling inside of them nothing you do the outside can prevent wear on the inside. Just change radiator fluid and power sterring fluid every 2 years to keep from building much heat and prevents rust where hoses meet the metal parts
@jackarup4481
@jackarup4481 3 жыл бұрын
@@marquisgrissom9129 Conditioning hoses *is* a thing. Will it prevent hoses or belts from cracking or drying out? No, but it *does* extend their life. Using your own misguided analogy, no one should even wash their vehicles since they are being washed on the outside which does nothing for the underside of the metal.

@@jackarup4481 camparing apples to oranges i see. Don't believe the hype. Like i said most of those hoses carry hot matter through then. When they crack, they crack where it meets the metal and because they were probably roughly removed at some point before the failure. So theres no magic lotion to prevent that
@lisasisk3713
@lisasisk3713 11 ай бұрын
@@jackarup4481 That's doesn't make sense. If don't remove the road dirt from the inside it will eventually wear out the inside. Just like dirt on a carpet. People that don't clean their carpets have wear tracks, where the dirt grinds a path into the carpet. But that doesn't happen to carpet when people regularly vacuum their carpet, same fact inside the engine.

I tried tire foam years ago, I read the can and it said hands-free spray on leave on dry looking tires,wipe if nessisairy won't damage paint I did the tires had lots left so I just put it on every thing. Just like the can said resist dust on tires .. I wiped the fenders off and the flat areas or heavy dirt. That's it. BTW I NOW CHARGE $78.00 FOR CAR LOTS OR $59.00 FOR MORE THAN TWO VEHICLES.NOW MY FRIENDS GET IT DONE FOR $40 OR $50.00. They love it and it resist most dirt unless it's water on it,that wipes off usually. If I'm busy I have a girl that does it for me for $20.00 she's always asking if I have any jobs for her. If the radiator is dirty. I use cold engine, Simple Green and a hose. Big bucks for nothing. I friggin love it! 12years now no complaints I don't do grease. I do Semi Trucks also same price unless the rad is full of bugs. OKEY BYE. DAVE

Same thing we used to do it a little small ma & pop shop car sale lot. Spray that crap all over the place that way at hides any leaks and or areas where there may be issues because it’s all shiny and therefore it’s hard to identify issues/leaks. On the other hand if you do have a solid platform with no leaks and runs good, that stuff does wonders.

I can't hear like I use to and I have replaced my wheel bearing, but the noise came back after a year. It sounded like the driver's side and when I turn to the right it wasn't as loud and stayed the same when I turned to the right, so I changed the driver's side. It's not as loud but it's still there. Sorry I just seen my mistake. When I turn to the right it wasn't as loud but when I turned to the left it stayed the same, so I changed the driver's side. The noise is still there but not as loud. I was thinking maybe a bad part or maybe I have to change both again. I don't know. Help
@AllAmericanMack
@AllAmericanMack 2 жыл бұрын
I'm certainly no mechanic but if you changed both of them and the noise went away for a year and then came back, I would guess one or both might need to be changed again. If they were cheaper bearings, it could just be failing prematurely or maybe water or debris got inside the seal. If you live somewhere that they salt the roads, that could cause early failure. Even bad roads can wear them out. I had a truck with 238k miles that I never changed the bearings on but my sons car only had about 60k before his needed to be changed. There's just a lot of factors that can go into how long they last. If it were me, I would go ahead and change them both again and be sure to use high quality bearings.
