I know some people talk about using your shoe to kick the boards into place. That doesn't always work. This should help you in a pinch

They make a tool to put on the edge, and then hit with a hammer to close joints from the out edge. Laminate/vinyl floor plank kit. You do have to remove the 1/4 round or baseboard though

Genius. Just moved house and the laminate on closer inspection was dreadful in the hallway, having previously been covered by a rug . Tried your technique, but with a rubber soled trainer (sneaker?), and worked a treat. Thanks from England.

Best way is to go out and buy yourself a suction cup holder for carrying glass sheets. They're not expensive and last a lifetime. Once you fold down the holder levers on both ends to create suction, they grip the floor panel. Then all you gotta do is tap the holder handle with a rubber mallet to shift the board underneath. Once its done, release the levers and remove the tool. Easy!

The suction cups don't work on textured vinyl/laminate. If the floor isn't completely smooth air can get under the suction cups and it will fail. So next best method is the method this video shows.

Rubber mallet hitting on an angle does the same thing!👍

God how i wish my boss will give me the tools i need to succeed and do my job. I shouldnt be made to rip up and destroy a whole floor due to this because this is way better and practical. For the homeowner, seller and me. I didnt even get a fresh knife blade today at work. Wanna know what they make me cut laminate with? A chop saw.

Clean debris out of kick it with your foot can also try a little glue to stop it from coming back are a little finish nail behind baseboard not through laminate

Joe that's a very good point and something I should have mentioned. 100% correct, shop vac'ing or even using a rag and a little water to clean out those channels will make a worlds of difference in how easily the tongue and groove slides. Thank you

Hi, I accidentally damaged my floor , so what is your advise please? I don’t know how to send you a picture to see it?

My friend , do the floors shift depending on the weather? I am noticing gaps that I’ve never seen before. Not sure if I can use your tips to fix the gaps. They look ugly. Please let me know. Thank you.

Uuuuhhhh......what about the big gap on the left side? And how the heck can you slide the pieces out the end with cabinets in the way? I think were being punked here.

If it's by the edge use a crowbar unless you have baseboard installed already

Great video , but could this technique work for that length gap. ?
@everythingmikedoes82023 ай бұрын
Hey John, that's a great question. A lot of people ask me about that. It can, and it does. It's hard to tell from this video, and I should probably have detailed this, but what seems like a gap in my video is actually not. The locks underneath are seated.. It's just that the top laminate layer had become warped at some point and is slightly curled up at the edge, if that makes sense. I can see how it gives the impression that there is still a gap. This was just the best I could do with the materials I had. I wasn't gonna rip the whole floor out and start over with a new product. I've been happily living with this imperfection. Give it a try my friend, I really hope this can help you.
