I just got done putting up my new 18x52 intex. My previous 18x48 lasted 5 years but i had put plywood underneath and did not put any pavers under the legs. Things started shifting so it was time for a new one. I spent 3 weeks getting the ground level and a lot of dirt to move. The best thing i did was to use a water level to set the pavers. I got that pool water level to a 1/8 of an inch

Thanks for the video. I have to redo mine. About 5 of my legs sank into the sand as it was filling and I wasn't there to watch it. So now I have to drain it and block up those legs. The rest is pretty level. Over all quality if the pool is great. The pump not so much.

Hi, I used approximately one yard. It may be about 1.5 inches thick at the most in spots. After cutting out the sod, it was pretty close to level and I didn’t have to do a tremendous amount of fill to even things out. My soil is not rocky, so I don’t need a large sand buffer.

Hey I just purchased this pool 2 months ago and I love it. But unfortunately about a week ago I noticed that the pump sounded like it was noisier than usual. Have checked it and saw no debris so not sure what is causing the noise. Unfortunately cannot seem to find anywhere on the internet about getting a replacement pump. I did not get the extended warranty on the pool so since it's been more than 30 days I'm not sure they will replace it. But worse than that I cannot seem to find a replacement pump for it. I actually had an extra pool pump here that was for a 16 foot Summer Waves pool but it will not fit.do you have any suggestions? I don't have a clue what type of pump would be comparable to this one.
@cooldadstuff2988
@cooldadstuff2988 4 жыл бұрын
Jan Grisham hi, not sure if you registered the pool, but Bestway (Coleman just licenses Bestway pools) it came with a basic warranty on the pool and coverage on the pump. If you registered it, they doubled the warranty period. Should be in the paperwork that came with the pool. When you say it won’t fit, are you referring to the inlet and out hose connections? The hoses for the pump it came with are 1 1/2”, where as the two smaller ones that connect to the side of the pool are 1 1/4”. Is the Summer Waves pump the wall mount type? If so, I don’t know if there’s really any way to use it on this pool.

@cooldadstuff2988
@cooldadstuff2988 4 жыл бұрын
Joel Hernandez I plan on leaving it up. Where I live, it doesn’t freeze, so I’m not all that concerned. The thought of having to routinely take it down each year and set back up doesn’t sound very appetizing. I’m sure in certain parts, that’s probably best. I did get the 3 year plan from Walmart, so if it fails, then so be it. Hope it doesn’t, but it’s definitely not made to last a lifetime.

The first mistake is not using flex paint on the metal frame. Next put dryer sheets in both ends of each opening on the rails. It will keep the bees out. Nice leveling job.
@cooldadstuff2988
@cooldadstuff2988 4 жыл бұрын
Yah, probably a good idea. This frame is basically like one of those kids metal swing sets, which anyone that has ever had one knows they rust out in a few years. In my case, the salt water will most likely expedite the corrosion process. For now, I'm probably going to use some clear sealant and some brown electrical tape. Also, I'm working on some prototype rail guards that should help keep the sun from scorching the rails and block splashing.

Here's the one I got. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TN3JQ2P/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 No, I did not modify the hoses "yet." For now, i'm using the 1 1/4" inlet hoses that came with the pool and the included "T" connection to the 1 1/2" hose that goes into the leaf basket. At some point, I may upgrade the 1 1/4" hoses (as they seem kinda cheaply made) and add a "T" plunger valve. For now, my skimmer is picking up any surface debris and I'm not needing to open the pump basket for anything. For whatever reason, the "T" plunger valves are selling for ridiculous prices online, so I'll wait. The included black plugs for the inlet hoses are just fine for now. About the pump, i'm going to do a follow up video soon and the pump is one of my topics. I'm having an issue with the chlorinator "tripping" I currently have the chlorinator deactivated. I contacted Intex and they are sending me a new sensor. Hopefully, that does the trick. If not, I'll just run it as is and supplement with chlorine. BTW, you still have to use chemicals in the pool. The Salt system is just one aspect of it. If the salt system becomes an issue, I may just drain the pool next season and forget it.

@cooldadstuff2988
@cooldadstuff2988 2 жыл бұрын
Artificial grass? Is it sloped? Depending on how far off it is, you would probably have to put down some sand. If you intend to preserve the turf, maybe put down a tarp first, then sand, level it, then another tarp on top. I recommend a tarp on top of sand to prevent making divots in the sand while putting the pool together, because you’ll be walking around inside it as you’re assembling it and trying to even it out as you fill it.

The mulch is only a couple inches thick, Unless you put down weed guard, they’ll just grow through it just like any other mulch. I went with the rubber stuff because it seemed less risky than wood mulch potentially poking the liner. In the past, I have encountered nails, pencils, and all kinds of pokey things mixed in regular wood much.

Once I leveled the dirt, i used about 1.25 yards of sand to make it nice and smooth on top, approximately 1-2” thick. I bought bags of sand at Lowe’s instead of bulk. Don’t recall how many, but it was a lot of back and forth with the car.

So far, I'm really liking the rubber mulch. I only have mulch for aesthetic purposes, so if you're going to use it, I suggest the rubber stuff as opposed to the standard wood bark. It is more expensive, but may prevent an accident from a stick poking the pool.

How did you layout the blocks?
@cooldadstuff2988
@cooldadstuff2988 4 жыл бұрын
Brian Curtis I am planning on doing a follow up video soon with some topics that I thought of after and general status of the pool. Talking about the blocks was actually to be one of those topics! So, the assembled midpoint of the legs are approximately 38” apart. If you’re leveling the ground, you want the leveled circle to be “at least” 20’ in diameter, maybe a little more. This will give room for the 18’ of the pool legs and the extra 1 foot square of each block. I have the legs resting on the farthest point forward in the block because I don’t want the rough edges/points of the block rubbing/poking on the pool bottom. So, I assembled the pool first, not on blocks. Then once assembled, I put the blocks under each leg, but not on the tarp. You want to kinda roll up the extra material of the tarp on to the side of the pool temporarily, so that when it’s complete, you use it as a buffer of sorts between the pool bottom and block top edges. Hopefully that makes sense.... From there, a simple way to see if the pool has a good shot at being level is starting at any block, use a level to the next block and adjust as necessary. Then level the next one off of that one and so on. Theoretically, if each block is level to each other, the whole thing will be level. Once you start filling the pool, it gets heavy quick, so get it as close as you can right out of the gate. As the pool fills, it’s a bit of a chore to keep things straight and blocks adjusted as the bottom bulges here and there. I just didn’t want the blocks under any part of the liner. Once filled, I pulled the tarp sections down and trimmed them out so they were about 6” extra top and sides over the blocks and tucked it under the pool bottom as extra protection. A consideration is the blocks are brittle, I have one that has cracked, but don’t think it will crumble. Perhaps 3/4” piece of wood on top of each block would have helped or just one bad block. I just don’t like the idea of any wood involved with this amount of weight, possible flexing and water/weather damage. Hopefully that all makes sense and helps. Let me know if you have questions. Good luck!
