Could this be more endearing? Your silly humor and high levels of accessibilty make this so rewarding to watch. And i especially appreciate your "list of your fears" in the bottom layer of the marmoset. I think we all have that, whatever we create. Thanks for naming it.

Thank you and I'm glad you enjoyed it. Plus, teasing a list of my fears makes for obvious an obvious video topic once I start my downward spiral phase of my KZfaq career.

Important note; you said that Mazzuchelli did the colors for Batman Year One. The colors were done by Richmond Lewis, then in an incredible feat of love for the book, she recolored the entire thing for the trade paperback release.

I learned this after the fact. A notable miss on my part. The color work in the book is superb.

To my best understanding its related to thumbnail image --why that would be 40% (and it is pretty consistently 40%) of file size is a mystery.

dang, your channel really deserves more attention. this is some good stuff. clear and concise, as needed, with the perfect amount of editing and demonstration to both help new artists as well as provide solid information for someone like me who wants to hear other people's processes. good stuff!

You're rekindling my interest in making my own comics video by video! The file size thing is baffling to me. Not sure what's happening there. As far as software, I have Photoshop (I use Adobe for the job) but at this point it's a matter of time before I'm crossing over to Affinity. Video requests? I don't know. You have such a cool style and presence you could do any number of things and it would be an entertaining watch. A video about other tools perhaps? Like, do you make the final layout in Indesign or some other layout app (I think I would tend to do that)? Maybe one about colouring traditionally? (Still a semi-big mystery to me how the old Marvel or Disney people or Hergé did it).

I don't know Affinity...I should do some research. The software landscape has changed a lot in the last five years. I'll definitely cover layout for comics (putting together an actual book) as well as printing. Traditional coloring would be interesting, but I'd have to practice that some more first...

This video has come to me at a good time. I usually just do blacks at %20 and whites at 45% (or close to) over my flats as I generally go for a clean toony look. And lately I've been groaning when it's time to color. Simply put, its not my favourite part of comicing. But I'm going to try and push myself. - Unrelated - I get a copper vibe when I see that greeny aqua on the orange armor. Rad. Thanks JH

Color can be a chore --the more I start to appreciate the harmony the less I feel I'm following restrictive guidelines and the more I feel like I'm discovering new ways to play with the harmonies. I have a colossal amount still to learn but it has gotten better, and I enjoy it a lot now. And yes, I was going for bronze (which is copper/tin) and I'm glad you picked up on that hint of oxidization. Thank you!

I will be watching this 3-11 times over. I'm really struggling with the tech aspect of everything and how the program actually works. I don't know if that's too far from your focus on the actual art, but any advice you could give would be really helpful.

Great videos about color remind me a little bit of Marco Bucci course. I use PS, it has everything i need with all the effects and tools. And yeah a play around quite a bit with effect, layers and filters. Almost forget, do you use a brush set of your own or the generic default from PS? I would assume like most of us, a collection of everything xd.

Collections from all over. I really enjoy brushes and I tend to buy brushpacks, especially for inks. With color I'm a bit more straightforward, nothing fancy. A few watercolor brushes for texture is as exciting as I go.
