How to color correct gopro videos - Davinci Resolve tutorial

In this tutorial I am showing how to color correct GoPro videos using Davinci Resolve software. If you are tired of GoPro Colour in your camera and sometimes the image quality is not that great then color correcting your footage using gopro flat colour is the best way to go. Whenever I shoot my gopro vidoes to get the best image quality I always stick to Flat colour which i later on fix in post production. Davinci Resolve is a professional color grading and editting software thats available for free on their official website, hower some of the more advanced features are not available and for those you gonna need a paid version. I use this software to make my youtube vidoes and I highly recommend it as its gonna give you best gopro video quality.

This video is also a massive help to newcomers like myself who are using cameras that don't have a LOG profile. My Olympus EM5 mkii has a 'flat' profile but the majority of Resolve colour correction video tutorials seem to focus on editing LOG footage. I've made about seven videos so far and have made incremental improvements in each one. Colour correcting and grading are the next skills I need to acquire to achieve the look I'm working towards. This video has been a real help - perhaps you should consider broadening what you've demonstrated to non LOG shooters like myself as I think this video deserves a wider audience.

:) its nit a typical type of vide that i do , mostly record comparisons reviews and examples so a video like that was a new way to interact with my audience i definitely gonna record more how to edit just need a few good scenes that gonna be worth it to make a video around it :)

Super Tomasz. Mam pytanie, czy porównywałeś takie filmy nagrane flat color i po własnej edycji kolorów z filmami nagranymi w gopro color bez edycji? Czyli te same sceny, ale po własnej edycji z gopro color. Ciekawy jestem jak by to wyglądało.

Porownywalem na wlasny uzytek , ogolnie po tylu latach co uzywalem gopro zawsze preferowalem.nagrywac we flacie , gopro colour potrafil zrojnowac moje ujecia, ok jak dziala to super ale czasami tak przesadzil z kontrastem i kolorem np skory czy czegos kolorowego ze to nie wygladalo dobrze takie jest moje subiektywne zdanie , jak pytalem sie np Abe Kislevitza to on polecal gopro colour a to jest sam guru jeali chodzi o gopro. Ja osobiscie bede dalej nagrywal we flacie na prywatny uzytek a w gopro color na potrzeby kanalu jak robie porownania. Jak wroce do domu to bede musial poswiecic jeden odcinek na nagranie tych samych scen z gopro colour i flat i porownac pokolorowany flat z gopro colour

My waveform starts way out of the limits. If i bring it back within the limits it makes it look flat and dull.

Its common with Gopro , did u use flat profile and - 0.5 ev ? Try to lowering highlights just a little bit if its already crushed there isnt much u can do

Flat profile keeps highlighta down and saves the shadows its better for editing than gopro colour which is too saturated and contrasty
