Hey guys its Maxine! Thanks for watching my full detailed tutorial on how to do a color fill in the hair to go brown. I hope you get a lot out of this video because color filling hair to go darker from blonde to brown doesn't have to be as challenging as it might seem and can be pretty easy once you understand the color wheel. what was the ratio when using the 5N and 5A? equal parts of dye but what about the 10 vol. developer? 1:1 or 1:1.5? thank you

I used red semi permanent (like fire engine red 0_o) with permanent level 4 brown over it cause thats all i had and now my hair is dark red. Its pretty but not what I wanted. Will the red eventually wash out or should i dye it black OR should i use a diluted green semi permanent?

Hi there! I have a pixie cut platinum blonde client who I have hilighted for years is wanting to color her hair tomorrow almost black she just told me this tonight. I use matrix color but I don’t have any red coppers or coppers on hand in Color Sync but I do have SoColor reds can I do that with 10 volume for a filler?

My deal is I have Redken shades Eq for my ends that I get what your saying but I have about 25% gray around sides, crown. Would you use permanent or shades to blend roots?

Hi Maxine-love your video. I am going to go darker from damaged long blonde hair. One question please-will this darkening process damage my already compromised hair even more? I heard that the protein fill actually strengthens the hair. I do no want to lose any length and should I only use demi permanent as opposed to permanent to preserve my damaged hair? thank you so much!

I have client that went silver on purpose lol well now she wants to be a medium rich chocolate brown. Her silencer has faded and now it’s a little brassy and yellow with a dark root as well. What would you suggest has a filler for her?

What do I do if im split dye half bleach blond and half purple thats been washed and faded into pink and purple and I want to go all violet black? Do I have to bleach wash the left over color out first or can I color fill over all the blonde purple and pink then do the violet black? And also since im going a purple black what color should I use for the filling?

How long after getting blonde highlights do you have to wait to darken hair to light/ med brown? I got mine done a few days ago and it’s too warm so I want to darken it back.

Would like to know the same. I bleach washed my hair because it was purple so it's on a caramel blonde/ brown ish now (did it yesterday 🙈) but I want to go dark brown with Nice and Easy No Ammonia. Is it going to work 🙆‍♀️

I am currently in cosmetology school i have a few friends that want to go blonde to dark once again they dont want to go back to blonde ever since inknow after every wash the color fades out is there any other colors besides the demis to make it last longer ?

you can dye the hair a red copper first and then dye it brown and the brown will last you for a long time !!

Yes! Doing a color fill with a Demi is most important for helping this last longest. Permanent color lifts the cuticle to much unnecessarily so going in gentle with demi is better. A healthy cuticle will always aid is color lasting along with a color fill 🤍🤎

I would only use 10 volume unless they have gray

A professional brand color treated shampoo will help it last but it has to be bought from a licensed place like jcp salon or ulta, not a beauty isle in some store because its not sold legally so It might watered down and also using cool water for shampooing will help keep the hairs cuticle closed. Of course all color will fade the richness overtime but the colorfill will prevent this from turning back to blonde

Neither. Always use demi permanent

@@danidelafuente1 In my experience they always want to go back lighter and most want to go back to as light as possible so its better for you to use demi so you can lift it out of the hair easier in the future. Even if they say they want to be dark forever they’re not thinking about two years from now and all of the hair on their head is way more than two years old but of course you can use permanent, It will just be very bandy when you go to lift it out and they might not be able to get light again so I wouldn’t suggest it

If someone wanted to go from blonde to black would you still need to do a color fill or is black strong enough to show up on the hair alone?

The underlying pigment in black is mostly red with dark orange and a little gold so yes you definitely need a colorful with those colors or the hair will end up having an underlying pigment of like a muddy Green And the color will fade out of the hair
