Hi friends! Today on BCG's Skyrim mod showcases we're traveling to Morrowind, to the island of Solstheim from the Dragonborn DLC. This place is very exotic for a less-traveled Nord girl like myself, so there's a lot of wondering and wandering. We'll be looking at town overhaul mods, Dark Elf -specific mods, armors, player homes, new creatures and more! :D I found these mods really enhance the Solstheim and maybe even the Dunmer experience, and makes exploring the island feeling quite fresh again. I hope you agree!

Dawnguard. The main questline of Dragonborn is disappointingly short and straightforward. Dawnguard also has more interesting characters.

Would also love to see it. And honestly, I'd love to be able to help build it, but a quality follower mod is a complicated endeavor, and a Ryna follower certainly requires no less than the best. :) That being said, it's definitely not out of reach, but sadly, it is out of mine. @@BardsCollegeGraduate

Dragonborn has always been my favorite DLC just because I loved morrowind so much during childhood and of course dunmers are my second favorite race!!

Miraak's voice overhaul is a nice small mod too that changes miraak's voice similar to Darth Vader's xDD It's a nice mod especially if you have the mod with the Miraak follower.

This mod compilation is fantastic and exactly what I was looking for! I’m developing two characters right now: a Skaal who has come of age and wants to explore Solsteim and Skyrim (coming back for the Dragonborn main questline at the end of their story), and a Dunmer refugee that starts in Solsteim. I’ve got all my mods for mechanic overhauls and additions: morrowloot, combat, temperature+survival needs, religion, and races. I got burnt out on Skyrim around the time that Dragonborn Gallery started to be intensely covered here on youtube, so of course I got that for the mainland. But, I didn’t have anything that touched Solsteim besides the tiny shrine additions from Wintersun. I don’t want mods that add massive overworld locations, as I feel like the surface area of Solsteim is crowded enough! I’ve been away from the game and modding for so long that a lot of the armor mods I used that have loot distribution haven’t been updated in years and are now broken/bugged, so I’ve been trying to find ones that are at most 2K, as I feel 4K armors then requires 4K mods for weapons, then environmental details, and so on, which is… yeah, no. Unlike most people, I don’t want my PC to be my furnace, and electricity bills aren’t super cheap in my region right now.

Love your mod videos for Skyrim, so well done! Haven't looked for a full DLC overhaul series, but would love to see the others done as well. I've definitely used MANY of the aesthetic mods you showcase for my own custom lists. I play VR and most texture overhauls are great conversions!

*Shouts offscreen* "Honey!! Bard College Graduate has uploaded again!!" Good to see you again bard. I've been watching for your uploads and what a return. Solstheim is my all time favourite area in Skyrim- Well, Morrowind. I always make sure to make a beeline for this place and sort out raven rock then go and help the Skaal to get Stahlrim Smithing, second best in the game in terms of light armour and with Frost Enchantments can out DPS Dragon weapons I love the overhauls. And I'll be sure to seek out that Skaal Village one so I can move into that house. I was most dismayed to find out the great hall doesn't have a single bed for travelers. I'll also be getting the Earthquake and Dramatic Lava plume. That'll so help add to the atmosphere of the island. The boat you can buy will also help quite a bit Those creature mods will be an adventure. I still have flashbacks to my first cliff racer attack back in Elder Scrolls 3 and when I heard my prison friend became a hero and wiped them all out I cheered so hard that I turned the Soul cairn into a live area. But SILT STRIDERS!! What a great mod It was good to hear from you again Bard, this was an amazing video. Glad to have you back. See you next week!!

Hey Anska, thanks again for watching! It's a good point that there's no hospitality at all for travelers in Skaal Village, maybe people don't generally venture there though. The player home is really nice to have in there! See ya again soon :)

@@BardsCollegeGraduate I thankfully got Skyrim working again at the cost of my character so I've had to start again. Going back to Skaal Village I found not only are there no spare beds but Tharsten, the Nord Archaeologist studying them also has no bed. He just chills in the longhall drinking all night with Fanari. But also Elda trades with people also, more commonly the dark elves of Raven Rock who periodically make their way up north as well as Hunters who often visit the village (Most likely for First Hunter Wulf). And then most recently the Last Dragonborn which is us. There is good reason to keep a large bed or two somewhere even if it's just tunneling into the mountain right next to them to make a cave

Welcome back! Solstheim is an area I never really enjoyed my first (and only) play through of it. I've been on the lookout for something that would make it more enjoyable and you highlighted some incredible mods I have never heard of! There was something in every category that I want to add to my current build. Thank you for taking the time to put this together. Two compliments on your editing: 1) I love the dark highlight behind the subtitles. It makes it much easier to read, but they weren't intrusive to the video. 2) The shot at 4:17! Girl! The framing is beautiful with the subtle curve of the moon in the background against the solid angular structure of the lighthouse. The ashen sky was a great choice to highlight the lighthouse's function, and the colors are beautiful. I had to pause the video just to enjoy this shot more! It would make a good loading screen or Main Menu Replacer. Gorgeous work! I hope you are feeling a bit better, but do take care of yourself first. Wishing you well in this new year.

Your comments about cliff racers show you've either never played Morrowind or are actually a cliff racer in disguise. They are menaces and canonizing St. Jiub for eradicating them is the very least we could've done for his service.

Cliff Racers aren’t as bad as the slaughter fish since they come out of nowhere and it’s harder to see them in Morrowind compared to say, Skyrim. Though they definitely get annoying since they’re everywhere trying to murder you

I really like Solstheim, actually feels like proper fantasy land. Skyrim itself is maybe little bland 🤔 These mods do bring more life to the whole island. All the small details may seem like nothing in the big picture but when you walk around you begin to notice they add life to the area.

Nice overhaul BCG. I started laughing at the depiction of the earthquake though. As someone that grew up in a earthquake prone and volcanic country, I can say that this isn't how people react, or even how you are taught in school to react. It is funny though and great to see such imagination and dedication to produce a mod like this. Perhaps the mod creator was jumping for joy they had survived :D Now as you are someone that grew up in a Nordic region, do medieval houses really look like the Skaal village mod?

That's a great review of the Solstheim mods, and I think I'd take all of them, although perhaps only one house. It would be hard to choose. I'm wondering: does Bantam Guar taste like Guar or chicken?

I've added so many of these mods to my new modlist! Great showcase! What do you think about Mihail's Cliff Racers Fly so High and his Kagoutis and Guars? The latter unfortunately doesn't have Nix Hounds, though.

I think his Kagoutis and Guars are a tad bit better with the guards riding them and the different variants, but yeah sadly no Nix-Hounds :( I thought they are cute as pets in Solstheim :D Mihail's are always top notch. With the Cliff Racers, not sure if there are any big differences but I like to feature different mod creators so I ended up showcasing this one instead of Mihail's. But all are good I think :) And oh thank you!!

Fury - Animal Taming of Skyrim + Dangerous Animals - GWAIFUU is perfect combination. Dangerous Animals - GWAIFUU makes animals more dangerous, making Saber Cat and Bears really valuable. But it is a very difficult mod, as the animals are very dangerous.

I remember being in an earthquake once. it was kinda far away so the effects weren't super strong where i was but i remember i was sitting looking at the ground wondering why it was vibrating before I realized everything was shaking.

Both DLC’s are amazing imo but dragon born brings back memories of Morrowind hits stronger than a vampire killing spree. I really hope you try out Morrowind for yourself and maybe add a mod list of your liking just like you do for Skyrim.

If you refer to the game updates, most mods have been updated to the newest patch, but I'd recommend you either downgrading the game into 1.6.640 or just updating the mods and disabling updates, so in the future they won't break again!

There are some new mods out that introduce moving ships: 'Animated Ships', and 'Boats: Operational Animated Travel' amongst others. There are several patches for Animated ships which help with textures and framerate issues if your PC is struggling with the sheer weight of bustling river and coastal travel it introduces. I've found myself sometimes just sitting myself down at Solitude docks or along the coast of the Sea of Ghosts and watching the ships sail by!

It baffles me that Bethesda is so bad at visual storytelling that modders have to add them in themselves. Modders are the backbone of this community. They actually know how to show the story the vanilla game has no interest in showing.

Bashing Bethesda became so trendy... Don't forget that there are literally tens of thousands, if not more, of modders who were working on the game for 12 years. And Skyrim team was less than 100 people - including sales, promotions etc. They actually made a very good job on Skyrim, otherwise no one would be modding it.

@@OlegLecinsky IMO Bethesda games have always had weak stories, especially their main stories and the visual storytelling is often quite week. You can think whatever you want. But Bethesda is a triple A studio that has been milking skyrim dry for 11 years because they know modders will fix the issues they couldn't be bothered fixing. I think with Mods skyrim is very fun, but I don't think a huge gamestudio should keep releasing or re-releasing unfinished, unpolished, glitchy games. Bethesda has had issues for years and nothing will ever be fixed if people don't criticize them. You can like their games and still point out that they have issues that Bethesda often ignores.

If we're talking about writing - well, Bethesda's writing is just plain and average. Not horrible. I don't see how it's worse than, let's say, CD Project writing.

@@OlegLecinsky Yes I know the difference between visual storytelling and plot, but Bethesda is not good at either of those things imo. I am not a CD project stan either, I think they have done a lot wrong, most specifically with CBP2077, but their main story and visual storytelling are stronger and more engaging imo. I just wish instead of re-releasing the same broken version of Skyrim 52 times they'd do something to overhaul the game, polish it up, fix it, make it worth it. I feel like their inability to innovate is what lead to Starfeild being busted. If they don't do something to change and innovate they are not going to make it. TES6 won't be good if they pull a Starfeild and that would be awful.
