How to Compost Green Japanese Knotweed: a Permaculture Solution

3 жыл бұрынThis video is about using Japanese knotweed (an invasive plant) as green manure in your compost systems without spreading it. By consistently harvesting the plant you prevent further spread and if you have a lot of it, it can actually work as a high quality, clean, green manure.
Note: if you do not have Japanese Knotweed in your garden, PLEASE do not go out of your way to find it. It is a very invasive plant. In this particular video I use it because it already present in massive amounts.

Would love to chat with you. Sharing your video with my gardening group. We composted dead/dried Japanese Knotweed stalks years ago. And it has not regrown it that area. I actually use dried knotweed stalks to grow sunflower microgreens in. I also put half a teaspoon of dried JK stalk in my daily smoothie. Asthma free now. It's been good at getting rid of my phlegm. People need to see a herbalist etc before using it. I've made Japanese Knotweed paper, soap, face oil, wine etc. I love this plant. My friend who is a herbalist is now growing this plant in her garden in the USA. And using it for herbal remedies.

Cook it with the heat in your compost pile. This is the best time to do it!
