How to Configure an Isolated Network Between VMs in VirtualBox

2 жыл бұрынIf you have two or more virtual machines that you would like to isolate from the rest of your VMs and your host, then you can setup a private network by changing the VMs adapter type to Internal Network and then assigning the VMs a static IP address. That way they will only be able to communicate with each other. Just be sure to make any changes to your firewall to allow the type of traffic you need to pass between the virtual machines.

Hey nice video! I am currently installing Opsense which doesn’t have a terminal to ping from. Would you know how I would set up an internal network between Opsense firewall and a kali machine?

Is there a way to transfer files between these vms even though they're "isolated"? I'm currently trying to scp a file between the two and getting a connection refused error, not sure if thats due this setup specifically or something else I'm doing

The thing about file and printer sharing should have been the first thing discussed, lol, since that's a crucial part to making this work and that's turned off by default when settings up a Windows VM.

But will the internet still work on the VMs

If you setup a second network adapter with NAT otherwise no. If they VMs have an internet connection then they are not really isolated.
