@@SavIzzi Absolutely. Not all manufactures do. Behringer has not updated the iPad app for the X-Air mixer so IOS16 crashes using advanced features rendering it useless. Glad UA is so proactive. You get what you pay for!

Hi Renato. You should be able to connect the adapter to a tb4 port. The M1 macs have TB4(usb-c) ports. That is how my MacBook is connected to my Twin. You may need to adjust your computer’s security settings. But since you have an iMac maybe not.

Hi Malcom. So your adapter turns off your twin? That is interesting. I would definitely stop using that adapter. You are correct I am using the Apple TB2 to TB3 adapter. There is a clip at the beginning that shows the box for your reference. I have not had any issues using this adapter.

@@Anon92456 Well, I guess what steps have you done already? Did you config security for your MacBook? Did you install the correct software for your OS? There are different depending on what you run. For example I installed the one for Monterey for my MacBook. Are you using a TB2 to TB3 adapter? If so, is it an Apple adapter? Can you see anything in Console? I usually open Console before I turn on my twin. Let me know if any of these help.

Thanks Gabriel! Yes, my MBP has TB4(USB-C) connectors. TB 3 should be able to connect to it. Since my Twin is TB2 I need to use a TB2 to TB3 adapter.

Great question. Do you know the specs of your 2015 MBP? TB 2 or 3? What version of OS is on it? My video covered the Twin Duo Core interface which is TB2. I’d recommend pulling the specs on the solo interface. Then check the requirements for the UA software on a Mac. If your MBP meets the requirements look at the installation steps for connecting the solo interface and installing the appropriate UA software for it.

I have a 2015 MacBook Pro, it has a thunderbolt 2 port, no need for an adapter as it doesn’t have a USB-C type thunderbolt 3 port. Works perfectly, just check the steps for the version of the OSX.

Sorry for the delay on this. My video covers the adapter. You would just need to ask what connection their Apollo interface uses. If it is Thunderbolt 3 or 4 then you probably won’t need an adapter. I need one because my Twin is an older Thunderbolt 2 connection. So I use an Apple TB2 to TB3 adapter, which is still compatible with TB4(usb-c). Hope that helps!

Hi Pabs! That is a great question. Do you know what kind of Apollo you have? Is it an Apollo Twin X? I know the older gen versions could not connect to both Windows and Mac. For example, my twin which is the one featured in this video is an Apollo Twin Duo which connects via Thunderbolt 2 and is Mac only. So I would check your interface’s model number and do a quick search online to see if it is Windows only or can connect to both.

Hey there. Is your Apollo a USB connection only? If so I believe that particular model is for Windows only. The Apollo Twin X, uses Thunderbolt 3 connectivity so a new Mac should work.

Hi there. I created this video after researching and reviewing documentation from Universal Audio. It talks about settings needed for the M1 style mac computers. I believe the Apollo solo is a newer style interface. I would review the Apollo solo interface at UA’s website. See what the requirements are to connect it to Mac.

If you don’t have an Apollo Twin yet then I would recommend getting a newer version like the Twin X. This video specifically discusses connecting an old interface with TB2 connection to a newer Mac with M1 chip. You should be able to connect directly with the Twin X to a M1 Mac because it is a TB3 connection. Hope this helps.

I will reboot my machine again and see how long for the menu to show up. You are referring to rebooting so you can change the security preferences correct?

I just tried it again. After you click shut down in the Apple menu I pressed the power button and held it. It took maybe 3-4 sec and then I saw a message in the middle of the screen saying Loading Startup options. After that you can choose to go into options.

I would pull up the specs on your Apollo USB interface. For example, the Apollo Twin Duo Core which is what the video is using is Mac only. I know some Apollo Twin USB models are Windows only. A quick check of your interface’s specs should tell you.

Great question. I’m not sure if this is only required for software installation or if this setting is also necessary when running console and for the twin to actually connect in the background when powered up. If I find updated info on this I will share it.

Hi there. Well, in order to route audio to your Twin you need to use Console. This is UA’s application for setting up the inputs of your interface, routing audio to your outputs, adding plug-ins, etc. The interface itself most likely needs whatever software it comes with installed, along with any necessary firmware updates in order to work properly.

Im not making music, im just hifi listener, so i dont need to add plugins and set up inputs (there are no inputs for me lol), but your saying i still need to install the software in order to even just set my audio output on mac to the audio interface, correct? sorry if im not understanding. im new do the audio world. thanks@@SavIzzi

@@Kyoutube121 Correct. The interface needs software in order to work properly. You can’t just plug it in and expect it to work. You would to setup your Mac audio in Console. If you are just using it for audio playback the Twin may be unnecessary. But if you purchased it already you can certainly use it for audio playback.

Hi there. Great question. Honestly, it has been pretty smooth sailing for me. No real issues. I was recording last night and it tracked just fine without any latency or signal loss. Same pretty much since I started using it with my M1 MacBook.

Has it been this way since you switched to the M1 laptop?

It is really odd. It comes through perfectly on GarageBand and Luna but for some reason on playback in logic it just keeps cutting out and can’t find anything online about it. I don’t know if it is a bug with logic itself or maybe 3rd party plugins are interfering

@@lecasettesound That is definitely strange. No issues when you are recording just on playback? Have you tried just a basic guitar track without any effects/plugins just to test?

Good question. Let me do some digging and get back to you on what I find. Latency when recording? For what it is worth I have never noticed any obvious latency issues when I record with my setup. It has been very solid.

@@SavIzzi Depending which DAW u use but let say it's Ableton you go Live-preferences-audio and 4 lines below the buffer size you will see Overall Latency. Check this number at 256samples and at 128samples.

I received a deal from a guy who wants to buy my interface giving his apollo twin mkii + Mac mini 2012 + behringer xenyx 2442. I would sell the Mac and the mixer and keep the apollo but the thing is, even I don't need 18in / 18out from the Fireface I still tend to like my latency that is on those values twice fast as Apollo presenting 6.5ms at 128buffer and 12.4ms at 256 even been USB 2.0 connection. I thought Apollo would present same Round Trip Latency or even faster, been thunderbolt. Anyway, thanks a lot, you really helped me make choice.

@KeySoundSample The Apollo Twin USB is listed as Windows only on uaudio.com. The other thing to keep in mind aside from the difference in connectivity is that the firmware for the Apollo Twin USB is written for a Windows OS and not a Mac. Hope that helps.

Hi Felipe. Good question. This video is specific for getting the Apollo Twin Duo connected successfully to an Apple M1 laptop. Since Luna is a native UA DAW I would think it would work. I’ll see if I find any info and if so I will share it here.

Great question. From what I have read UA has a list of interfaces that are compatible with Apple Silicon computers which should entail both M1 and M2 processors. I reference this compatibility list in the video. I would still research if there are additional steps specifically for M2 machines. I would imagine the same type of security configuration of your laptop would apply at a minimum in addition to installing UA software.

Hi Kevin. According to UA as long as it is not a FireWire interface it should be compatible. Their software should run natively on the Apple silicon processors(M1 and M2). You want to make sure you change the security configuration setting for your M1. Then download and install the UA software for the OS version of your Mac.

Hi there. Excellent question. You want to get a TB2 to TB3 adapter. The beginning of the video shows that connection using an adapter to the my M1 Pro laptop. There is also a security configuration change in the M1 you will need to do before installing UA software. Take a look at the time stamps for where i show that in the video.

Hi Joey. Thanks for reaching out! It sounds like you have a very similar setup to my own. The way I went through my setup is: 1) I powered up and connected the Twin to the M1 pro laptop. Connection via TB2 to TB3 adapter.(both of which are Apple cables) 2) In the laptop Startup Security Utility, select Reduced Security. Allow user management of kernel extensions from identified developers. Reboot laptop. 3)Download the latest UAD software applicable for your Mac OS(Monterey, Ventura, etc.) 4) Install the UAD software. Allow any blocked extensions in Security and Privacy for Universal Audio. 5) Reboot laptop. I was prompted to update firmware. Which I did. To complete the update I powered off and powered on my Apollo Twin. 6) After that the Twin connected and it showed the device as being registered in my account at UAD.com. I was able to authorize my plug-ins and use my interface. I had another user comment they were having trouble then tried another TB cable and it worked for them. Did you get prompted to update firmware after the UAD software installation? Was the twin powered up and connected throughout the entire setup? Maybe something in your security settings that is still blocking components of the software? The fact that your twin is trying to connect then drops out could be blocking or maybe just a bad cable? Another thing to try although it may not work, I used to have to open console first before turning on my Apollo Twin for it to connect. This was on my old Macbook. That is not the case with my new M1 laptop. However, I figure I would pass it on as another thing to try. Hope some of this helps. Good luck!

Hey digging up an old comment here but I'm having exactly the same issue and not getting very far with UA support - did you manage to fix it because I've been trawling the internet for a solution? I have exact same setup as you - when I connect the Apollo it stays on for anything between 2 minutes to 10 minutes then there's a high pitched buzz and it disconnects (but stays powered on). Thanks in advanced to anyone who can help !

@@Jamesgsgeorge I never did get it to work. I’m not sure but I think it’s an issue with not having the included software and the previous owner not changing ownership over to me. I bought this used and have no idea who the previous owner is. Hope you find a solution.

So steps will be similar because the guidelines from UA are for Apple silicon computers. So any M1,M2 etc. Just double check your MacBook Air has a TB3 connection . If your Twin is TB2 you will need to get an adapter to connect to your MacBook. I use the TB2 to TB3 adapter from Apple.

I believe this applies for any apple machine with their native M1 processors. What are the specs on your mini? Does it have TB3 ports?

Keith, does your MacBook have a dedicated charging port? I know some of the older models used a TB3 cable connected to a plug for charging. Has your Twin always charged your MacBook since you started using them together?

Yeah it has the normal charging port like other MacBooks. and yeah it's always charge it for some reason

@@diegoprox3279 Hi Diego. Is this your first time using your Apollo Twin? Or did it work before for you? When you are plugged into your Twin do you see the level on your input meter go up when you strum your guitar? I don’t know what you have tried so far but I would: Check guitar cable on an amp to make sure it works. Make sure guitar volume is up. Make sure input gain on Twin is turned up enough. Make sure UAD console is open. Did you see the Apollo Twin connected message when you turned on your Twin? You should open Console first. Hope some of this helps.

Hi there. Review your specs for your Apollo Twin. I know there is a USB version of the Apollo Twin that is Windows only. I wouldn’t buy a Mac just for a Twin. My Apollo is Mac only. But I also run Logic Pro as my DAW. Which is Mac only. I would review what OS is required for your Twin and also what other applications you want to use and then decide what computer you need.

@@SavIzzi thanks sooooo much for responding. ya im trying to use it on my macbook, it works on my windows pc just isnt regestered yet at the moment bc its used but i emailed them to fix that. i did all the steps on my macbook but when i connect the apollo (whcih says its only used for windows) it gets stuck at the "connect ua device" in uad meter and control panel.

Hi Xemul. The Apollo Twin Duo was made for Mac only. So this video is specifically for people who have this interface and the M1 style MacBooks. UA does make Apollo Twin for windows. Search Apollo Twin X.
