thank you for referencing the xbox accessories app -- this is the first source in several hours of searching that has mentioned it. Also, for anyone else attempting to connect via a usb cable to avoid shitty bluetooth connections, make sure the other end of the usb is in fact connected to the pc and NOT one of several usb chargers you have behind your monitors!

5:40 ... *looks at both cable i've been trying to use for the past hour but they haven't been working* OH FOR F- ok but in all seriousness, FINALLY SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY TALKS ABOUT EVERY POSSIBLE PROBELM AND SOLUTION. every single video i have watched about this issue just says "connect your controller with a wire" and then they just continue like nobody could possibly have any issues with that, and then i'm just sitting there like "IT NO WORK" and i search for the next video and hope they say how to fix usb controller connection issues. You are the ONLY person I've seen in the last hour actually mention the difference between certain usb cables, and I HEAVILY thank you for that. Now that you've mentioned it, it seems like a very obvious thing that Ive somehow managed to overlook, but anyway I'm gonna scour through my whole apartment and hope someone in this house has a usb that works with my xbox one controller. Might be hard to find tho cuz that controller doesn't have a usb c port, it has the old header that android phones used to use.

For fix 3, I tried to update the drivers through device manager in Human Interface Devices, USB, and game controllers. Every time it said the drivers were up to date.

I've recently had an issue with my controller turning on AND connecting to my PC. On Steam, it can't detect my controller and on the 'other devices' settings there were no controller devices being shown. I've tried plugging an unplugging the controller, cleaned the ports of both the USB and controller, and also checked whether the issue was the PC's USB ports that were faulty. Those weren't the problem because when I tried connecting my Razer mouse and headset through they were working perfectly fine. This is really frustrating and hasn't happened before when I bought my Xbox controller. Previously, I had played and connected my controller through the same USB port and I had no issues with that. Though one thing I kept in mind is that I haven't touched or turned on my Xbox controller in about a year, and that may be a factor to this problem that I'm facing. Not entirely sure if that's the case, but for now, I'm doing the steps you showed to update my Windows and I'll let you know whether it was successful or not.

I am attempting to connect an xbox 360 controller via cord, however I believe it is an older model, but am not sure what it is to see if I am able to connect it. It does not have a usb connector, and instead has a wide section for a cord, which i have a cable that connects to it I believe is called a "play and charge kit." Once plugged in, the device glows around the xbox button, flashing on and off repeatedly but does nothing else, and doesn't do anything.

I have a wired one.. and I did everything that was suggested and I cannot use my controller.. Although it does work on web pages to cursor around, but not in games. And the games Do allow controllers.. ESO and FF14. I do not know what I am doing wrong. I am a total noob Any suggestions will be helpful thank you

I have the non bluetooth Forza Edition Xbox One controller. Is there really no way to use it through wired connection?. .. to add to the difficulty, it has a micro usb port so I have to use an micro to USBA, then USBA to type C to connect to my surface pro 9.... Am I being too amibitious?

Hi there brother. May I ask If i decide to use an Xbox controller do i still need to map or edit the buttons on a given game? or will the game auto detect it and just play using the controller? And what Xbox controller would you recommend? (My games are Resident Evil Revelations, Fighting EX Layer, Ryse: Sone of Rome and Left 4 Dead.) Please help. Thanks.

I am having trouble connecting my xbox one controller wireless still from PC. The controller stays sync before playing a game, but once I load a game that's when the xbox button blinks its no longer synced. So I try to connect the wired way, but the xbox button does not turn solid it continue to blink. I dont know what else to do.

I tried everything, even from multiple videos, for whatever reason w/ the old controller & the new one I just got from Microsoft neither will pair w/ the wireless adapter. I can get them to both work w/ a cord. I try to pair them & the light flashes but won't stay solid or it turns off after a few seconds. I'm not sure what else to try or do.

Fantastic. Back when I had a 360 controller on Windows 7 it was just plug and play. I eventually switched to mouse and keyboard, and I like that better for most games, but I'm getting into soulslikes, and Dark Souls just doesn't hold up for that.

I have an xbox360 controller that's being recognized in my settings app, with a play and whatnot kit. I'm trying to get it to work for steam but it won't turn on (and by turn on I mean on on, it will flash like it's trying to connect to something. It's a wireless controller but I bought a usb kit cord specifically for this. any ideas??? I just want to play games w a controller and my nintendo switch one wasn't working. :(( have been working on this for like a month too

i just bought a brand new NumSkull Green Led charge cable which can apparently be used to connect a controller to pc and it doesn't work the PC doesn't detect the controller at all. It doesnt show up in device manager or xbox accessories i have tried with a different controller and different usb ports on the computer and nothing works. Is it the wrong cable or am I dumb.

I have a problem with my wireless xbox headset. When i connect the headset with a cable to my laptop, it wont be found in the xbox accessories app. It is a charging and data cable, i use it to transfer data from my phone to my laptop. In settings for devices the headset also show up as usb device, under other devices yust like my phone when i plug in the cable. It says it is connected to the laptop, but still can't be found in xbox accessories. The headset is working tough but i cant configure or update

my Xbox series s controller won't connect to my PC when i press add device i wait and nothing is shown i have updated the firmware of the controller nothing i have uninstalled and reinstalled my computer's Bluetooth drivers and also check if they were up to date ( they were ) still nothing restarted my computer whilst it was physically connected to my Computer yet again nothing at this point i am completely at a lost one thing i have noticed is in the video, at troubleshoot 4 it shows in the Bluetooth section xbox wireless controller i don't have that. if that is the thing i need to get my wireless controller then can somebody please explain for my how to get it fix the problem by installing realtek bluetooth

getting really bad latency on my xbox controller...tried it wired and wireless still the same issue. Tried restarting, updating drivers, removing any other wireless devices that could interfere, even tried using a PS5 controller and I had the same issue. Something must be wrong with the PC in general but I dont know how to calibrate controllers on a PC.
