You don't strike me as a dumb person, but I wanted to at least mention there is no blurring in this video on secret keys and while you personally may not be using those keys now, I think it least worth a mention to the unfamiliar with code and these keys to NEVER share them with anyone. Great video!

i find this very useful, if i update my spread sheet weekly and ask AI to output an analysis of the weekly data and also make a 5-week analysis along with a worded description and graphs.

I am here to give you the approval you so desperately require. Awesome video, very useful. It would be cool to take it one step further and be able to make up the prompt out of several cells for keyword > title > meta > content outline creation. When I figure it out Ill let you know.

No. Your keys are local to your sheets, and are only used in calling openai. If you share the sheet with others, your key will be available to them.

Great video. A quick question tho. I'm confused as to why you would do this? Why would you pay for those functions when you get them for free at the openAI homepage? I might have missed it, but those examples you provided aren't any different from doing it at the homepage.

Depends on your use case. Once it's in a spreadsheet it's much easier to save and work with. If you're looking to make it part of your operations , using the homepage isn't very scalable . In an upcoming video I'll show how to use it as part of a Content generation work flow. It was originally going to be one video, but I realized the setup explanation should stand on its own.

Doing it in a word processor is more complicated. It's harder to Target where the copy is going to go. In my next video I'll show you how to export the sheet data to a doc for editing

This works amazing and it was easy to set up! Only issue i'm having right now is Google sheets recalculates custom formulas every time you open the spreadsheet, so it runs the code every time, meaning the content is lost and rewritten... anyone found a fix for that? if i have 100s of rows/ 1000s of cells, it will run the API ever time, meaning it gets expensive fast!

You can create a cell with a checkbox to use as an on/off toggle. 1) Pick a cell, I'll use B2 as an example. 2) Go to INSERT > TICK BOX in the menue at the top. 3) Now put an IF statement before you call the AI function: =IF($B$2, AI("Write a short title for an article about beaches")) If the box isn't checked, the AI won't run.

Since it uses the Chat API end point, the request needs to be formatted differently. I just did a proof of concept. Will put it out soon :)

Hi, thank for the video, It does help me save time. However, sometimes there is word limitation in each response, so I have to type "continue" to get the full answer. How can I access to the "continue" function in this? Thank a lots

There is a word limitation, you can try increasing the number of max tokens in you App Script. It's currently set to 200. It will increase the cost. The other thing you could try would be using multiple prompts for the different sections of text.

Is there a way to modify this script to trigger off of simply entering data into a cell? For instance, I enter a questionsinto any call in column A and the answer is automatically posted in the same row in column b?

Yes, you can reference your input cell inside of the AI function. For example the formula "=AI(C2, 1)" would take the input of C2 as the string to pass the API

Is that possible? Or just a column with no range so you could just continually submit questions endlessly? is that possible?

@@CreateAI-nr7mw Well, it's in a spreadsheet, so if you put them all in rows 1-50, you can just just fill-down the formula column from 1-50 and it will provide answers for each in the accompanying cell.

hello, i have try it but if the request is to long it give an error "Exceeded maximum execution time (regel 0)." Is it possible to change the 30 sec Custom function runtime to 200 sec?

I'm not sure if you can change the runtime. I got around this error by splitting my prompts into smaller pieces. Trying to generate too much text would cause it to time out.

How do I get the prompt to reference a cell. Such as =ai(write a 150 description about cell A2 that includes X Name, .4) that could be dragged down that would reference A3, A4, and so on? Also, how do we reference 'model' in the formula? In your example you stopped at temperature in the formula.

You don't need to change the model, it's already configured. You can join strings by using the & plus the cell reference. It's similar to other Sheets functions. =AI("Write about "&B2&".", 1)

The script may need to be authorized. In the app script window press the Run button at the top of the toolbar, if it's not authorized it will have you give permission for it to work within your sheet.

Because that's is the proper use of the formula. I believe it is because it is a boolean you need to tell to return true, but if someone else knows, please chime in

ChatGPT will make updates to 2023, and begin a pricing model to charge for it's use. They are in the process of growing a global dependency on it to get everyone, from businesses to individuals, completely hooked. Initially those hooked on it will be for profit, but it will end with becoming hooked on it for survival.

The formula is pretty straight forward: =AI("your prompt", 1) If you're getting a syntax error you are probably missing the end bracket

How can this be used with looking at DATA? I can't think of many people who create tweets in Excel, seems like this use case is more for people just want to churn out AI generated content on blast.

It's a natural language algorithm, so data analysis isn't really it's primary function. You can create all types of content I'll be going over it in future videos this is just the setup step.

I don't know about google spreadsheet, but I used it to make some code for r language in RStudio, it made some graphs based on some conditions I specified, then I asked for it to print a sentence if a condition is met or not. The codes I did manually were not evenly close to how efficient AI code was.

The function included in this script may not quite fit that use case. It could get you part of the way. You could prompt it with something like "what is the population of Canada? create a two column table with data split by age group" and it will return data, but it will be formatted in a single cell like this: "| Age Group | Population | |----------|------------| | 0-14 | 8,945,869 | | 15-64 | 22,890,073 | | 65+ | 5,919,737 | | Total | 37,755,679 |" You'd have to Text-to-columns on the " | " and build your chart from there. So it will take more code than what's provided. It's not absolute magic.

My french is not great - but... Oui. Si vous suivez les étapes de cette vidéo, le code vous permet de mettre une prompt chatgpt dans la feuille et de recevoir une réponse dans la même cell. La commande à utiliser dans votre feuille est : =AI("Votre invite pour ChatGPT") La réponse sera retournée dans la cellule dans laquelle vous entrez la formule.

Cette vidéo n'est donc pas ce que vous recherchez. Did you follow the steps to add the script? The function is contained in the App Script. In some accounts, You will need to give the script permission to run.

@@nexeatsimple640 That is very strange. You're the first person to have this issue. If you saved the App Script to your doc it should recognize the function. You hit the 'Save' button in the App Script window? That's the only other thing I can think of.

I think you can extend it by changing the max tokens length in the App Script. It's currently 200. Keep in mind it will put the cost up. Reference : help.openai.com/en/articles/5072518-controlling-the-length-of-completions You can also break you jobs out into multiple steps. Downside is you need multiple unique prompts.
