When using an Android based phone with the Pioneer Smart Sync app, I recommend to use the Bluetooth connection and not the USB connection type. The cable type does not matter. If you want to charge your phone through the receiver's USB port while using the Bluetooth connection type for the Pioneer Smart Sync app, I recommend to change the USB Auto setting to Off. The "best" ? That's sort of an open question. There may be more than one view of the best. And the best may not be the easiest. The quick easy answer is CD. However, CD's have to be treaded somewhat carefully in the car, or they can become damaged. I like to use a USB source in the car. I can rip my CD's to FLAC or WAVE files and they play back in the car with the same audio quality at the original CD. If you want to use the Pioneer Smart Sync app with your Android based phone, I strongly recommend to use the Bluetooth Connection for the app. You can see it explained clearly in this Pioneer How To video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bMl3mJul1am2pHk.html The receiver is telling you it's set up for MTP, or Media Transfer Protocol, from an Android based phone. I recommend to press the receiver's microprocessor reset button. You'll need a paperclip or some other small point to press the microprocessor reset button. If your clock, and radio station presets, reset each time you start your vehicle, you may have the in-dash receiver wired incorrectly. Focus on the in-dash receiver's Yellow Wire and Red Wire. The Yellow wire should have constant power from the vehicle even when the vehicle is off. This keeps the clock, and other functions stored in memory. Do not wire Red and Yellow together.
