Connect a USB 2.0 front panel or box case connector port to the mainboard with these easy steps on different motherboards. Realize whether or not it has a port at all. USB 3.0 uses a different but somewhat similar port ,which should be no problem to identify too. See • How to Connect the USB...

*What have we learned here today?* We learned that a 9-pin F_USB port on the motherboard is really a USB 2.0 connector for the two USB 2.0 ports located on the front of the computer. Not where the motherboard is sticking out with all of its other ports, but rather the USB 2.0 ports located elsewhere on the desktop, such as on top of its outer shell. That's what I got from this video and my tests afterwards.

What if you have two USB ports? Can you put two front plates?
@RiiViiMedia2424
@RiiViiMedia2424 4 ай бұрын
@@LataDeTomate If there were two such separate F_USB ports on the motherboard, hypothetically you could have four separate ports in total in that case. As for front plates on the computer, I think it would only be one casing. Unless it is some kind of unusual, customized setup.

@@RiiViiMedia2424 I say this because on my board there are two 9-pin USB ports, both together. I'm only using one for the front panel so the other one is free. I was thinking about buying another front panel so I could have two additional USB 2.0 ports. But I was worried that due to some limitation of the board that could not be done 😕

@@LataDeTomate I see. My computer only has the one 9-pin port for two USB 2.0 ports. I imagine that it could work with your two 9-pin ports (assuming that both said 9-pin ports were always there), but I personally don't know for certain.

On a USB 2.0 capable motherboard - is a USB 2.0 header the same (connector wise, Female) as a USB 3.0 (Female) header? I have 2 x USB 2.0 ports on my tower (with the connector inside) that's attached to a USB 2.0 port on the mobo - what I'd like to know is, can I connect the old USB 2.0 (tower) header connection to the new USB 3.0 header port on the new motherboard? I know that if it can connect, I'll get full USB 2.0 [transfer] SPEEDS from the new USB 2.0 port externally on my Fractal Design Define R3 tower but it won't be actually operate as a USB 3.0 port - is this 100% correct? Please advise, thanks; I just want to be absolutely sure I can re-use the existing USB port (often just for flash drives). I'm not bothered about it not being an actual USB 3.0 port, all I care about is if it can be re-used as _A_ USB port. Old mobo = Asus P6T (vanilla) from about 2010. Intel i7. Thank you for your video, but I installed a outside power/reset buttons which is made by China and the USB cable doesnt even have a blank shitty hole (all 10 holes) so I have no way else to guess. My question is: 1) can I guess based on the colors of USB cable, like Red - White - Green to stick correctly? Like in 3:25 in your video? 2) above the name of the cable, there is a small arrow (or triangle) symbol, is it useful or any meaning or just randomly for fun?

so I watched a video to install bluetooth and wifi to my Hackintosh. Ill link the video so you can see. He say "if only wifi works to flip the connector 180 degrees" this is where I get lost. I only have one USB port left on my mother board and there is only one orientation it can go in so what does he mean by flipping it???? watch his video not very long and maybe you can help me understand what he means Thank You? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jMpppqeppr2ypY0.html
