As a junior, I was taught to shape the ball mostly by changing your grip, however, weirdly, I find keeping the same grip but changing the stance and path is much more predictable and easier to execute.

This was a great video and a nice break from talking about equipment. I was always taught to point the club at target and align myself to my start line, but never considered pointing the club face away from target, but just inside my body lines. I'm going to give that a try during my next range session.

Great video, thank you very much. Especially the slow equals low, fast equals high. It seems logical but strangely enough I never thought about it 👍🙌🙏

Love this boys - especially the range note at the end. I always have my best ball-striking range sessions when I'm messing with trajectory and hitting a lot of punch shots

Ian, you clearly have all the shots, an absolute ball striker. What would you say was the holdback from becoming a touring professional?

About 6 strokes per round under pressure. Ian is a great player but tour pros literally have another gear. I play with a few D1 college guys that are + handicaps and they all play with KF tour players and say the level of difference from them to mini tour and then the step up is massively huge.

Unfortunately lots of parts of my game are not quite up to scratch. My iron play is my strongest part by far. I’d say putting and short game would be the biggest area for improvement.

It would be great to see this idea off the tee, especially a low bullet on a tight hole.

Love the content today(and always)! How about short game shots for those of us not hitting very many greens. I find it challenging knowing how to play shots out of thick rough, be it sitting down or sitting up.

Hey guys! I'm just wondering what iron head/shaft and ball you're using for this test. Mucho excellent ball speeds for Ian's clubhead speed. Really liked this one!

Would love to see a video on ball flights. Specifically, what numbers should we be looking for to hold greens, optimal heights, decent angles, etc. I struggle with a low ball flight and can't hold greens. Works great on a hard fairway 😁

You’ll typically want around 45-52 to hold greens depending the type of course you’re playing.

@@lawbinson yes rule of thumb is 45 deg minimum to hold greens

Those are great questions! A landing angle above 45 is usually sufficient to hold a green, but spin will also play a role in that as well. Optimal height and spin will vary depending on your club head speed. If you're struggling holding greens, it may be time for a fitting with us! Otherwise, maybe try a a higher launching golf ball. Golf balls can influence spin by as much as 4-600 rpms and can help with height and land angle as well. Try something like the Pro V1X

I bet you're doing too much shaft lean. It might even feel like you're hitting it with the shaft vertical or backwards until it works. Try to hit the ball with loft. The only way to do that is to have less shaft lean. Much like hook/cut adjustment to find center, we should also work on fixing our top vector of spin loft (delivered loft) so we have some height to our shots.

usually my best rounds come from playing around with shot shapes and trajectories 😮. trouble is to remember it rather than just going to my stock shot automatically without thought

Oh, the block vs random practice discussion 😉 (on the video, per se, different trajectories bring different and possibly less understood shot patterns - practicing lag putting is probably more beneficial for most people than messing around with shot shapes to control distance)
