I've been wanting to this with my Canadian canoe for ages- always stalled on how to make the Ama's - the cut windsurfer idea is pure genius thanks for sharing :-)

Looks like it sails to the weather pretty nicely! Your build is truly inspiring and I love your clever use of second hand items. I'm building a fishing canoe but I could pop my fishing seats out and install masts like you did. The trimaran can also be a nice casting platform. Would be cool to make it dual purpose for when the fishing gets slow.

Loved your windsurfer use as the out rigger. Thanks for sharing

I love the concept. Very good execution. I am not a salor, but I am a fisherman. I have been looking for a way to make outriggers inexpensively. Thank you.

Liked and Sub'd this is the exact video I was searching for !

Brillant! Rudder looks a little crude but functions and that is what counts. I had the same idea for the out riggers on mine but could not find a wind surfer for less than 600 bucks in my area. Overall love what you have done.

you should put the flat side of the outrigger on the outside, so that the curved side will generate lift up to windward. have a look at a hobie 16, they do this.

An excellent practical video, thanks. I'm inspired to copy your design.

Good work buddy. Rudder looks a bit funny but seems to work well. Enjoy your craft.

i have pictures of a canoe trimaran i saw down in Key West back in 2000. it used 2x4s for cross beams and lashed the windsurfer halves, but same concept. he also used a paddle for steering, no fixed rudder. oh, and the front sail on a schooner is called a "foresail". nice job though, i like it. i am rebuilding a canoe right now and looking for a windsurfer... will post video when i get mine done.

Thanks for this...I'm watching it very carefully - you have a lot of good ideas that I will borrow for my build of a 14foot square stern rowing canoe that I would like to sail. I will have smaller stabilizers than full outriggers, but there a lot of good ideas here. Chris.

I was given a 14’ square stern last week. I am here looking for a way to make a sail system for it. Any links you can share will be greatly appreciated.

Loose footed foresail and lanteen mainsail. It more resembles what used to be called a Felucca

Can you explain again if you dont mind how you cut the surf board in half and I am a little bit unclear when you "cut the ends" of the board and reglued them NICE job!

Wow what an awesome idea ... I have a 33 ft seawind catamaran which my channel sail2spear is based of but think I might downsize 🤙⛵️🐠

Just to let you know your video still gets views. From my research into oceanic sailing canoes I was able to see the resemblance to a crab claw lanteen or sprit.

Alternatively you could have gotten two canoes and made a catamaran

i guess most important you're having fun, but the design is not movie clip material. Wait till you learn and build a proa, the most practical multihull, then record that.
