I ate Shin Ramyun at least three packs a week. I've always sauteed chopped green onion with a clove of crushed garlic with 100 grams of mince pork for 3-4 mins, then added water and did exactly like what you did here for the next steps.

I think it's important for people to know two things. a) You don't have to use the whole packet of spice. You use it for your liking - just like you can cook as short or long as you want to cook. The spicier you want, the more you use. b) You are to add pretty much any veggies, meat, eggs, etc. you want.

I cook ramen almost every day for lunch. I add onion, garlic, chilli, gojuchang paste, frozen peas, corn & carrots and some cooked chicken and an egg. I never break the egg straight into the pan (just in case) and I usually stir it before dribbling it into the pan. There are about 6 or 7 different types of ramen I use, all delicious. I try to only use half to 3/4 of the noodle cake so my blood glucose doesn't spike too much.

I like to upgrade my noodles with some rough chopped green onion and baby bok choi while it gets up to temp and fast fry pork loin on the side with some chili, garlic, and cumin. I crack an egg and add a splash of sesame oil to the broth when I drop in my noodles and add the sliced pork to top it off when I'm done. (I need to convince myself the added nutritional value makes it not junk food anymore 😉)

I eat this with rice too. I cook it with shrimp, egg, and chopped green onions. I dip the noodles and shrimp in a little soy sauce on the side before eating it with rice. i throw kimchi into the soup base while it’s boiling (sorry if that’s criminal) but i feel like the kimchi makes the broth taste even better. once my noodles are cooked i’ll put a slice of cheese on top. idk it’s been my go to recipe the past few months and it’s really nice. the cheese makes the broth creamy and kimchi adds a sourness to the broth that i really enjoy.

Sounds pretty unhealthy. They're slightly over 500 kcal per pack, so that's about 1000 kcal per meal (recommended amount of calories on a day is about 1500-2000. Maybe up to 2500 if you exercise a lot or more if it's extreme like training for serious muscle mass). Still, assuming a normal lifestyle with some light exercise, it's at least about half of the calories you can eat on a day without gaining weight.

@P7ejfjr
@P7ejfjr 11 ай бұрын
To whom doesn't know how to eat ramyun properly, not all the ramyuns are compatible with egg inside. Ramyuns like Shin Ramyun or Jin Ramyun, Samyang Ramyun go really well with or without egg, but not for the seafood based ramyun like Neoguri or Haemultang Myun. Their soup's flavor would be strange if you put the egg when you cook them. So try not to put egg in the ramyun all the time. Anyway, it's your own decision to choose how you wanna eat it though.

I lived off that stuff for a decade, still eat it. I only cook the noodles and flakes, then drain all but a half cup of water off. Then I put it back on the warm burner (with the burner off) and stir in a raw egg and two tablespoons of butter, which is totally not Asian, until the butter is melted. I let it set and cool a bit before eating. Amazing. Ramen is just salt and starch, so adding a protein and some fat really builds it up as a meal.

I pound the noodles whilst still in packet to break them up- personal preference to make eating easier with soup spoon.Definitely add flavor pack (powder) towards end of cooking as the aromatics stay. Also I push the eggs around so the white separates a bit and cooks in strands, whilst the yolks stay intact. And yeah I throw in some Thai chilies!

When I cook mine with egg, I either do it egg drop soup style or let the noodles cook enough to spread out from the brick form, turn the heat low, gently drop an egg in, and let the egg poach low and slow (which allows the noodle to not over cook).

My eggs used to sit on top perfectly and I’d put the lid on and it’d be so perfectly cooked and round. Now they just sink like that and I have wisps and raw or overdone yolk; idk what I’m suddenly doing wrong. 😅 I never thought to put rice in the leftover broth. But I have marinated shrimp in it. 😂 I have a ramen pot which was actually my first pot from college. It’s metal and I love how fast it heats up water and I can just throw it in the dishwasher. Everyone who eats ramen should get a pot like this.

I like to add the egg in about 30-45 seconds in after the noodles and let it sink to the bottom. If you stir only very gently, after 4 minutes of cooking the noodles, you will get a perfectly poached, still runny poached egg. Depending on whats in my fridge, I will also add in a few pieces of kimchi and kimchi juice while the water comes to a boil. If you have frozen wontons chuck a few in just before water comes to a boil. If you have any stray green onions, chilis, furikake, toss it on top for garnish. I've even thrown in chopped up hot dogs and left over pork chops in there.. you really cannot go wrong except make it better! Only topping I did not like is the American cheese that some people like. 🤮

I've been on team poached egg for my shin ramyun for probably over 15 years now and I notice if you do the egg(s) just before the noodles come apart around the 1 minute mark, the will sit on top of the nest. I kind of flip the puck after 30 seconds - give it another 30 - add the eggs. I use a slightly oversized pot if I want true poach, so I can lid it and have that thick, gooey yolk. Sometimes I just pull the noodles so I can coat them in the thick yolk with a little bit of broth, then add fresh spring onion and fresh serrano slices. Other times I do a soupier version with random veg or meats I have around - bok choi, spring onion - I've even added makhani dal or black beans or southern bbq slices or rare steak slices with fresh coriander - sometimes I just want nothing but egg, fresh, thin garlic chips, and lots of black pepper + chili flake -- it depends on mood and circumstance. I also make surplus pho broth to keep some frozen for emergency pho when I want rice noods. Noodles are my comfort and it gives me anxiety when people bite them in half - so thank you for not doing that. My hapa heart can't take another severed nood.

Another recipe: - Add all the packet spice ingredients (not the veggie flakes) into a bowl. Grind some garlic and put it into the bowl as well. - Cook the noodles separately along with the veggie flakes (One suggestion I can give is to soak the dry noodles in room temp water for like 10 min before you put it into the boiling water. Tastes better too.). - Boil 4-5 tablespoons of oil. And pour the boiling oil into the ingredients in the bowl. - Drain the noodles. - Add noodles into the bowl and mix thoroughly :) Add poached or sunny side up eggs on top.

4-5 seems a little excessive, 2-3 should do it.

I get the chicken soup version Shin Gold. I add 2 cheese slices, I separate the yolks and add the whites to the soup. Once the noodles are JUST about finished, I'll add in the yolks break them and quickly mix them through the soup it adds additional creaminess without overcooking the yolk while still cooking the whites thoroughly. Super delicious and still maintains the spice level.

SHIN BLACK is the bomb, I prefer it over the red. But here in Southern California it's almost 12 bucks for a 5 pack. Thank goodness I make my own kimchi but I just noticed Walmart has Picky Wicky brand kimchi!

About £1 here in London= about 124 cents US. I have found a handful of shrimp,a tablespoon of frozen peas and one teaspoon of pickled red cabbage is really good in Shin Ramen. I like the Black Packet ones now you can buy them here.

One side of the noodle cake has a dimple. You don't need to stir your noodles until serving so cracking an egg on the dimple will let the egg float on top of the noodle cake.

Aw this reminds me of the times I struggled financially.. a few times all I had was a packet of ramen and rice. I added the rice for more sustenance. Once I got my money up I couldn’t even look at ramen for the next 2 years 😂

I’ve been a ramen nut for decades, but my favorite ramen restaurant closed a while back and I haven’t found a suitable replacement. Shin Ramyeon has been godsend for me. I add whatever is in the fridge: scallions, spinach, mushrooms usually. Sometimes kale, leftover chicken, or a softboiled egg. As good as a restaurant, if not better, for relatively little money.
