Hmm! I think I want to try the boiled artichoke just because it's so much more green! I enjoy boiled cabbage, I wonder if it's similar?

Steaming always better than boiling. Less mushy and doesnt wash away nutrients and flavor.

I cut mine in half. Then scoop out the choke. Next boil to tender. Finally drizzle oil on face and throw it on grill to give it a smoky flavor.

I've always boiled them. But I don't add that much water. Probably just enough to cover half and then halfway through cooking I rotate them. Then I let it rest in the water for about an extra 10-15 minutes

I quarter mine and cut out the choke and I keep the stems on Then I bake them in the oven with olive oil and salt, covered with foil, 425°F, for about 20 minutes and a few mins without the foil to get a little more color on them I would like to try to steam one and see how I feel but I don’t think it can compare to the flavors I get from the oven n olive oil

Baking definitely has more flavor compared to steaming, but it's always fun to test!

First, how do you best clean and trim an artichoke?
@JessicaGavin
@JessicaGavin Жыл бұрын
To clean and trim an artichoke, remove the stem, cut off the top inch, snip off the thorny tips, gently pull apart the leaves, and scoop out the fuzzy choke with a spoon. Place the cleaned artichoke in lemon water to prevent browning.

@@JessicaGavin thanks for the reply!! I went ahead and boiled one without trimming (to save time) and I can now see how trimming would help. 😊😊( This was my first time attempting to make one) Good thing, I'm the only one in the house who likes them so I'm carefully avoiding getting poked while still enjoying it 😅😊 and I can't wait to try again! Your video and reply was very helpful to me! Thanks!! 💖💖

something tells my old brain that a petroleum product (call it steamer pad or whatever-else u fancy) will probably release carcinogens under heat. Why this beautiful gal cannot figure this out is besides me!

You can boil the artichoke! Just place the stem-side down, and cover the pot with a li. Cook for about 20 minutes until the leaves are tender. Hope this helps!

Artichoke has filaments inside that you should get rid of first by cutting them in half, and she left far too many green leaves. You should remove leaves until you find the more yellow ones.
