Watch this Carla's Kitchen video to learn how to cook popcorn on an induction cooktop without having the shake the pan. In this demonstration we use about 1/2 a cup of popcorn kernels to make about 12 cups of popped popcorn. We also add some nice seasoning such as nutritional yeast and za'atar to add flavor to the popcorn. You can also apply this same cooking method and recipe to other cooktops, either gas or electric.

I always just used a single layer of popcorn and just enough oil of choice to layer the bottom of the pan, but not totally cover the popcorn (on an electric stove). Let it pop until it slows to very few pops and pour into a nice big bowl and season with sea salt. I have recently seen the use of nutritional yeast, so I will try that. And I am thinking I might try the chile' oil... I like to drop jalapeno slices into mine sometimes. I have never eaten it with a spoon, so you caught me off guard with that. You are definitely correct, a little popcorn seed makes a large amount of popcorn!

A spoon? For me, using my fingers is 50% of the fun of eating popcorn. 😊

One thing that you shouldn't do when making popcorn is to trap the steam in the pot. You should give the steam a way to escape while it is popping otherwise the popcorn won't taste as crunchy because it absorbs too much of the trapped steam. Look at any good popcorn maker and you will see there are always vents built into the popper for the steam to escape.

Hi! I just found this video, and WOW what a help! I have been burning popcorn ever since we switched to an induction stove. I must admit that I was skeptical at first, but gave it a try. I'm so happy to enjoy my homemade popcorn again! Not a burnt kernel to be found :)

I can dig the eating with a spoon but I think you should have individual bowls. Two people eating out of the same bowl with a spoon is Dickensian.

I also have eaten popcorn with a spoon for years. That way I can read a book or use my computer while eating. But honestly, there is no way on earth I will make 'deep fried popcorn' with so much oil. High temperature cooked oils are high in toxic AGEs leading to chronic diseases.

What's this? Eating popcorn with a spoon?! Next you'll be eating Snickers bars with a knife and fork. But seriously, thanks for the good info. I'll have to try the Za'atar.

Honey, never leave the lid on trapping the steam. It makes it tough and loses crispiness.

I always eat my popcorn with a spoon because I have class and don't want my fingers all oily & salted. I also call my first cookbook that is in process Carla's Kitchen, so I find all this very interesting indeed....and how she rushed to copyright this video ...all very interesting indeed.

I tried it just like you did, on a Duxtop induction cooking Expert. My kernels took too long to start popping, then they popped very slowly for 5 minutes and got burned before stopping popping. What went wrong?
@CB99Videos
@CB99Videos 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. And, so sorry for the burning. I have burned in the past too. I find that I have to cover the kernels completely with oil. Also, as soon as the popping starts, I lower the temperature. As soon as the pops go sparse, I remove the pot from the heat. If you find that it still burns, try an even lower temperature. I hope this is helpful.

Who eats popcorn with a spoon? That's one of the weirdest food things I've ever seen in my life. Thanks for the vido though. I've been making popcorn on gas stoves for years. Recently got an induction cooktop and so far, popcorn burns every time. I've tried different methods, and different pots with no success. I'll try this one next.

That is an astonishing amount of oil - when all you needed was just enough to wet the kernels! A single tablespoon of the chile oil would have been quite sufficient!
