How to copy a Postgres database is a frequently asked question with surprisingly few answers, most of them being quite poor. This is why Dimitri started working on pgcopydb, a new Open Source tool that's available precisely to answer this question. In this talk, you will see what makes the topic more interesting than it first seems, and how to fully answer the question, including Capture Data Changes implementation.
Dimitri Fontaine is a PostgreSQL Major Contributor (design, review, Extensions, Event Triggers, etc). Dimitri maintains and develops pg_auto_failover, pgcopydb, pgloader and other software. Dimitri has also written “The Art of PostgreSQL”, a book that teaches application developers to replace thousands of lines of code with simple SQL queries.
