This really needs to be implemented in Studio One. Way more flexible than just project presets and such a time saver!

For the very few Cakewalk Sonar users, few ways of doing this : - template sessions - "insert from template tracks" (template tracks will also recall the associated busses and routing) - FX Chain recall (longer process since you have to do it on every channel/track) My 2 pennies ;)

There is also another way to achieve the same result in other DAWs, which is to take your completed song and create a template from it, delete the audio tracks, resave it and now any new song you create from that template will also have identical track routing, plug ins and settings in it.

What about plugins? Does this work for RTAS? I have a 10 song album that I am tracking, mixing, and playing bass on (a lot to do at once, believe me, esp with a band of 7-8 guys). I made a separate session for each song, and then I am mixing in a copy of each session so that I can easily revert to raw tracks. I have a good starting mix for 2 of the tracks, and would love to copy the levels and (RTAS) plugins for each rerspective track across all sessions (the instrumentation is the same, I can make the tack names identical, I might have varied a little due to carelessness ( e.g: git / guitar gtr ) etc. Is there a way to do levels and plugins only? I suspect not.

So, using Windows, does the track you are taking the session data from have to be exported or bounced from Pro Tools to the hard drive before importing the session data?

Can you do this in other DAWs or is this just in Protools?

Is there such an option in Cubase?

I still don't see a valid reason why I should not use one session for all songs (especially for rock bands with similar songs). Saves a ton of time and maintains a very consistent sound. No problems with it overloading RAM or anything in Reaper. Easy to automate any plugin changes between songs.
