Hi i just wanna drop by to say this. 2 years ago i begged my sister to cornrow my hair. She said no. :'( but I'm glad she did because i looked for a tutorial on it and i found this. and then i tried it. big fail i gave up for a bit then the desire for cornrows arose again and then i tried and then i gave up again fast forward 4 months later and i did it!!! i got the basics it looked like garbage at first and i didn't go out of the house like that but with about another 15 times of cornowing it looked decent. Decent enough for my sister to BEG ME TO DO HERS OMGEEE i felt like i was over the moon. Never stopped cornrowing since... TBH the video was super helpful but there was this comment of a lady here that said the hair being added should be to the middle strand and that was what clicked for me and i tried it and it worked My advice: don't give it up i know how it feels and it looks like chinese letters but i promise that if you learn to be patient and keep trying and trying and trying till failure you will get it. I did it and i am so glad i did it. The braiding is only 1/4 the fun. The REAL fun was the 4 month learning. edit: the lady is marra joelle it just clicked i was like OHHHHHHHHHHHH

I cannot believe that this entire time, we're supposed to be adding hair to the middle section. I've been trying to add hair to every section and my fingers would criss-cross and the braid would be huge and lop-sided!! Thank you so much for making this video!!! The palms and knuckles piece makes a lot of sense and has been very helpful!

J. Joelle Well, it's how they do on the other videos. I have been unable to braid my own head for years because of that method and because of the length of my hair and my burning arms. I guess, by picking up in the middle it will be a 100 times easier !

I just wish I knew how to grip my roots. I can get the motion of cornrowing, but the braids are always a good distance from my scalp 🙄 It's hard out here
@trinidaddy
@trinidaddy 5 жыл бұрын
I use to have this problem too. The best way to explain how I got over this is to say that I started holding my hair tighter and closer to my scalp. The most likely reason why your braids are loose is because you aren't keeping the motion close enough to your scalp or you're not keeping your grip tight enough. I hope this helps if you haven't already overcame your issue

It's still called a cornrows whether your picking up from the sides or middle it's still one big braid, two big braids or however many you have in your head there all called cornrows.

+Katie Grawbarger exactly it's still called a cornrows. Some people just have different techniques of braiding.. But like I said it's still called a cornrows been called that for centuries
@MariaAntoinetteTV
@MariaAntoinetteTV 7 жыл бұрын
+Whitney Bell and Katie Grawbarger. Thank you both for commenting! The technique I'm doing is a Cornrow... Not to be confused with Dutch braid... So to say this is a Dutch braid is not factual. This is a Cornrow! They can not and should not be lumped together. They are similar but still different. I will be doing a video on Dutch braids as well as French Braids. They all have the different names because they are different techniques. Glad the video was helpful and hopefully this clear up any questions had about what I'm showing.
