My advice....buy the 4" one. 12" is too wide, and like dude said, you're just gonna trap more air per stroke. Sometimes that's not an issue if it's really good material. But people use the cheap shit a lot of the time, and you'll struggle to push air pockets out.

What do you when you aren't given enough strips? I order a vinyl wall mural from fine decor (~ 9'x10'' X 7'10"), and order the 6 they provided aren't enough. Left with a use white space that kills the overall look of accent wall for my dining area :/

I noticed that you haven't removed the excess overlap (at least it's not in the video) Should it be removed or not?

André Gonçalves I'm not an expert, however I've seen most people leave it on. Vinyl is very thin, and you shouldn't notice a difference where the overlap is, without through inspection.

Materials used for these interior applications can indeed shrink when doing a French/common cut and expose underlying paint. Industry norms are to allow overlaps to remain and like Seeker stated.... They're hardly visible. (45 years in this industry.... Gives ya gray hairs!!)

It is a german brand called Oracal. The vinyl is Orafol. See the video description for more details.

Hi Yerfrindd, the Orajet 3651 is available in 760mm by 50 mtr rolls in clear gloss and white gloss and in standard 1370mm by 50 mtr rolls in clear gloss, white gloss and white matt finishes. Kirk Douglas the material they used in the demo is obviously temporary vinyl, and unless the top, sides and bottom edges are torched, wouldnt stay up a years time on its own. That being said, a few factors dictate removal (how soon was the install after wall was built and more importantly painted). If everything was done right, the longer vinyl stays on, the tougher it can be to remove. Some wall touch up might be necessary, but to refresh your look every so often, its worth it.

richadruhe unless youre applying release liner to cad cut vinyl lettering, you dont want one. 6" squeegee is really widest you should be using on walls...

This technique is ok for a small wall with simple graphics. On a large wall, this method would result in a terrible outcome. Every panel should be taped and leveled, ESPECIALLY the first one. Nobody ever shows close up shots of their work on these videos because the techniques they teach don't result in good registration.

No, I've installed walls 30 meters long and 5 meters high with this exact technique and the panel registration is perfect each time! If the first panel is level the rest will follow. Level is used at the first panel in this video!

Masking tape bad... Very few walls are perfectly flat, so not wise to use super wide squeegee. (Could easily trap air). Whats wrong with advising people to employ an installer? Installer arrives with all necessary tools, spends an 60-75 minutes. Tidies up, smiles, waves and is off. Instead, youre sending a novice into a wall mural, with panels that require seams to match up, that could shift left or right depending on wall smoothness, how the backing is removed, how the material is held, lol - but let client pay to print, am I right? By the way, it would typically be a 2 man install if installers are novices...
