How To Correctly Remove Stubborn Water Spots! - Chemical Guys

Water spot damage begins as droplets of water land on paintwork and other automotive surfaces. As the water evaporates, all the minerals inside the droplet are left behind as a stain on the surface. If caught soon enough, these minerals can be simply wiped away during a car wash or with a quick detail spray. If left overnight, the spot may stick harder, but they can typically be removed with a clay bar. Beyond this level of contamination, water spots can etch deeper into the surface and cause permanent damage that may require polishing, wet sanding, and even repainting.

Gents....I watched this video about a week or two ago...Water spots were so bad on my side glass and mirrors I couldn't see out them at night...Took a chance, ordered a bottle plus the applicators and micro towels. Recieved it yesterday, tried it today and I'm telling you what!!! This stuff friggin rocks!!! Thanks for sharing... I'll be ordering the spray wax and other products!!! A combination of Equal amounts of vinegar and water does the trick. My mirrors had spots. That cleared it right up. Put it on a spray bottle and it makes an excellent glass cleaner due to the acidity in the white vinegar.

Worked like magic. Just leased a car a week ago. Got it home and the next morning the windows all looked like a waterspot graveyard. The car was sitting on a lot for months and all windows had water spots. Tried vinegar and didn't help much. I just got the gel in the mail and it got rid of every single waterspot. Great product 👌

I'm very impressed with this product. I Did not think the spots were coming off after the pressure washer / traditional mitt wash didn't work. Used the honeydew snow foam spray, then more honeydew in a 2 bucket wash, microfiber towel dried. Then afterwords on the effected glass area I used Heavy Duty Water Spot Remover Gel, and then finished with the speed wipe detail spray. I was very, very, pleased with the results. Works as advertised.

AMAZING! I had those ugly white water streaks on my Mazda 3 for years. I noticed I had this product in my house from when my sister did exterior window cleaning (so lucky lol). I ran outside with a sponge and microfibers and after 2 applications the streaks were gone! Took me 10 minutes. So happy, thanks for the video and product!

Wow!!That easy lol. I've been using this product and it only works on recent water spots. Today, I had a client with this problem and tried this product, 2 other different brands and no luck at all. I have been detaling cars for 5 years, and I haven't seen a product that works on old water marks, sometimes even polishing won't do the magic. Good luck to you guys.

I was skeptical it would help in my case as my "water spots" if they were that, were not visible unless the sun hit the glass at a certain angle or I use a flashlight. They were embedded and etched in on my 13 year old car. I keep it clean but these appeared a year ago and NOTHING could take them out! I tried soaking with vinegar for 15 minutes, I tried all kinds of cleaners and youtube solutions and NOTHING worked. I finally ordered this as it was the only PRO solution available in my country, and it got them out!!! IT DEFINITELY WORKS even on really old and etched in water spots! You should show THAT kind of damage in your videos instead of these types that are a few weeks old! Excellent product!! THANK YOU for solving my year old problem 🙂👍

What a great product. I have had strange stains on the car windows for some time now and have tried absolutely everything. Steel wool, vinegar, degreaser and other water spot sprays. Nothing helped. Now with this, a little stuff on a microfiber cloth and it goes away!

Use super fine (000 scale) steel wool, and make sure you use gloves. Then finish using rain x water repellent to prevent water spots.

@@reza_dc2 you will have to do a polish (depending on how long they've been in there) starting with a compound then wax, seal, etc.. or with something like the new product P4, which is more of a all in one. I do everything by hand, so I try to avoid letting it sit too long.

I used this twice on the body of my new black car. Worked like a charm. My old gold car sat for 2 weeks and got sprinkled nearly daily. Now the windshield is etched really bad. Need to use this on the glass. Will do it tomorrow.

I was looking around on KZfaq for ways to get those water stains out. Found this video about 3 weeks ago. I didn't believe it worked. Read the comments and still wasn't convinced. But I said what the hey, I'll but the produce and take a chance. I have to say, this stuff really works! Now the orange stuff doesn't have an appealing odor lol. But the spray makes up for it. Took some elbow grease for my water stains and on one window it did need two treatments. But I was highly satisfied when I was done. Definitely worth it 👍👍👍

Follow up. I bought the product and saw many reviews about it. Some saying it worked great and others said not at all. So as I'm trying the product im very skeptical. I tried it on three areas. My trunk, a side window (the triangle portion) and a section of the windshield. My trunk has some really big, very very old water spots that were bigger than half dollars. I must say this product worked great on all of the areas I tried. The shine and smoothness. I'm shocked and happy. Great product! 👍👍 two thumbs up. I will be recommending to others.

I was doing a great job keeping my truck from getting hard water spots, and all it took was one day of sprinklers followed by an hour of mid-day sunlight and that was it. Tried everything, and really hope this can help remove them

This product is golden. I had ceramic soap baked on my car after my pressure washer broke on a hot day. Needless to say this was over a month ago. I found this product today at Walmart and my god. Heaven sent!

I go through multiple fleet cars a year as a driver my most recent one I got had terrible water spots on the passenger side after a car wash and one treatment it got rid of about 70% of the water spots I think one more treatment tomorrow should take them off completely but I love this product

I thought this was fake, maybe those were fresh water spots, BUT I was trying to use compound and polish with a buffing machine for 30 minutes and couldn't get them off on my car, then pickED this up at Walmart for $15 , literally came off with one wipe. DEFINITELY WORKS GREAT 😃👍

Detail shops wanted $300 to take out the hard water spots in my new car. To me that’s a steep price. I started doing research and found this video. so i recently used a spray after washing my car which is stored outside and I could see that the spray glossed over the water spots ... will this stuff remove the wax spray finish to get down to the water spots? I had to use abrasive pad with a scouring approach to remove from windows (2017 jeep) and neglected car for about a year. This u been on ongoing problem since I am in a rainy section of Florida with lots of temp changes from hot to cold. Next I will watch your stubborn water spots video. I have used up some of your products and loved them and thanx for this well presented subject!

I gave it a try, didn't even touch the water and other damage from nature on my hood. I am working my way backwards before having to buff with abrasive compounds. What could I possibly try next, thanks for youir help. Oh, just to mention, it did an awesome job on the glass.

Can the WS remover be used with ceramic coating? If I remove the water spots how many layers or protection will it remove as in Ceramic, polish, clear or can this go over CC? I understand that a good coating of CC should reduce future water spots but for current conditions. If applying Ceramic coating I have a new vehicle. Plan is to wash, clay, polish, ceramic coating. The W/S remover goes in what step? Before or after the clay bar?

I only use your products and love them. I have a new Challenger with water spots that seem to be etched into the paint. Will this help? A shop told me wet sand is the only fix. Heavy compound didn't work. Help!

I have water stains on my gloss black wheels which I can’t remove. I’ve tried vinegar which someone recommended but still no change . Just purchased the car. How can I remove the stains? Will this product work?

This stuff worked amazing on my clear bra. I tried isopropyl 70%, didn’t work, I tried lacquer thinner and that didn’t work, tried this stuff and it worked so nice!

My car is ceramic coated but I still have very small and scattered stubborn water spots on the hood and some areas on the doors, can I use this product even if my car is ceramic coated ? Looks like it works great

Hey! Simply use your favorite quick detail spray or waterless wash to neutralize the water spot remover and then wipe away spent product.

Water spots on this car wasn't that bad. But this product is a game changer. My water sports on my f150 was 10 out of 10 on horrible. I did actually what was shown in this video and worked amazing !

I bought this and your clay bar kit , I was wonder if I use the clay bar kit would it also help get the water spots out ? Or should I still go ahead and use the water spot removal as well ?

Hey! It is possible to remove light or recent water spots with a clay bar however if the stains remain it will still need Heavy Duty Water Spot Remover.

Great video - I left my sprinkler on and got really bad hard water stains on a dark blue metallic color. It’s only been a day and I’ve tried a lot. I am getting this now and hope it works. Any suggestions on how to prevent ( besides not letting the sprinkler well water get on it in the first place)

Keeping a good wax or ceramic coating on helps. Sooner you get the spots off the better too before you end up having to use a buffer.

I enjoyed this demonstration, and it looks easy without much physical exertion. I purchased a 2010 Chevy Impala five months ago in beautiful dark ruby red. But one side of the vehicle has a lot of water stains on the paint and glass that don't come off despite frequent trips to a commercial car wash. The car must have been exposed to a lawn sprinkler for years because the other side is perfect. As the second owner, my concern is that the mineral deposits occurred over eleven years and might be too etched in and not removable. A car detailing service would cost a small fortune. Do you think there's a chance your product will work? I'm a retired lady who would try to do this on my own. It would be discouraging to find it's a lost cause.

I got both the detail spray and water spot remover and applied exactly like the video, but it didn’t remove all the water spots. Am I doing something wrong? Or is there another product/method you would recommend?
