This is a trick I learned when I was 14. I did it with bicycle locks and changed the order or the numbers. I got so good I could open a 4 number combo in less than 10 seconds. Works on briefcases and gun locks too. I never recommended this style lock when I was working as a salesman for this very reason.

For those that say this teaches thieves how to steal really need to think about what they are saying. A small set of bolt cutters would cut that right of in a second or a pipe wrench could twist it off. A thief isnt gonna sit their and try to figure out a combination unless he wants to put the lock back on something.

Thank you SO much! My macaw is very smart and can open most normal cages, so we put a lock a lot like this one on it. We just boarded her since we went on a vacation and they let her play with the lock! She ended up changing the code and we didn’t know that when we put the lock on her travel cage to go home. This helped me get the lock off!

@@Cristopher.C thiefs often follow some very fundamental laws of nature, for example the path of least resistance. Often they'll just go for the easiest target, at least if there's not some bike (or something else) that sticks out because it's value. So they'll just look for an unlocked or badly locked bike, which is why it helps to have any kind of lock on it, the chances drop they'll try to steal yours as a first choice.

Yeah some escape rooms puzzles are so convoluted that, sometimes you think that sloppy bits are part of the puzzle, like that. One time, we were chained up, and the staff couldn't tie someone up for shit, and we kinda thought that was part of the puzzle. They had to come back in and tell us to go back and finish the puzzle as intended...

Saw this last night when I couldn't sleep and YT offered me this vid Today in work I noticed my archnemesis have this lock on his closet When everyone was out for lunch I opened his lock..set the different number and locked it again On my way home I've found him cursing and being angry that he can't get in. I've got my things. Lock my closet.. And three other people were looking at him "helping" already I said "let me see....Hmm.. that's weird" Doing like it doesn't work and then open it unnoticed with my new combination. They were all like OMG HOW! He said Thank you! And his eyes were saying Hate you! And I was like "no problem..but i would switch the lock if this was faulty" So nobody was suspicious I mean. Nobody got hurt. He wasn't even late for his bus home But the moment of him saying thank you and giving everything to silence the hate inside that from ALL people I was the one helping him! I do not know how I did but this video was a great help. I locked my 4 wheel combo lock without noting the 4 digits like an idiot with no sense. I came across the video and twiddled about with the combinations pretending like I can feel the lock reacting to the turns. Something happened and now I got it open. Many thanks.

Thanks for sharing. I hope this shows people how worthless it is to use these types of locks. Combination locks are slightly easier to open than most keyed locks to anyone with a little training. They just need less training and tools. Locks keep honest people honest and discourage lazy dishonest people. The value of what is being protected should justify the value and quality of the lock being used and help reduce the number of people able to get around it.

John Fox I've been picking locks with homemade tools for three weeks and can pick pretty much any lock that anyone would buy at a department store. I did a lock with five spool pins today in minutes, although my old American with serrated pins took me longer. I tried that one way too early though so that may be why.

Just used this to open a MASTER LOCK Lock Reset Combination style lock. It was a bit tricky as the u-bolt was arranged differently and had to be pulled on from an awkward direction. Thanks for the post.

It worked, thanks! Chances are if you don't have anything useful around you will need a second person to pull it because you cannot do this with one hand (at least me) and you do feel the number getting harder to turn when it's the right one! Very useful

Believe it or not, when I was around 7, my cousin has a lock like this in their room, she wanted to show me her new shoes, which is inside her wardrobe, so we don't know where her parents kept the keys(her parents aren't home) so I started to try different numbers, after about half an hour I finally get to unlock it. That was one of my bestest moments😀😎

I have been doing it for 2 years using this technique I developed on my own. Good to see you do the same. Just for clarification, my mom and brother forget their combinations a lot and I have helped them unlock several times. No crook here. :P

When I was a kid in the early 70s a lot of bike chains used to have combination locks. We would go to the school bike shed and swap several locks rounds, those that were the same colour and make were obviously the best. We couldn’t do it on a regular basis or we would have drawn the attention of teachers, and the bike shed was outside the headmaster's office. If you read this children please don’t copy as it wasn’t clever and wasn’t funny (actually it was very funny to a bunch of 14 year olds, but we didn’t have much to entertain us in those days)

Thats how it must be done, i am here to see a video which shows how to decode the lock, THIS VIDEO JUST DID THAT. I dont want to listen to crap like "Hi i am social media big shot here and today we are going to learn how to blah bla blah" just STFU, cut to the chase, and show how its done. I am so impressed!!! I changed the code by accidentally resetting the code, so it wouldn’t open with my original code. I followed this and I managed to get it open in seconds!!

Excellent. I recovered my few years unused gym lock found in drawer for which I didn't remembered the combination. It looks like I set it to 0000 before tossing it there. I was trying my old numbers :)
