Awesome video! I see that you are using det M3T for this job. How does the mapping/3D-model from a M3T compare to a modell created with a M3E? Im currently in the prosess of upgrading my drone lineup and I have been told numerous times that the M3T does NOT do mapping well and I have to have the M3E to do what you just did in the video. What is your thougts on that? Thanks in advance

The M3T has done a great job performing the flight tasks and capturing the images I need. I’m not 100% sure why the M3E is recommended more so than the M3T for mapping and modeling missions. The statistics on the cameras appear to be exact other than the fact that the M3T has a FLIR thermal camera. Both have mechanical shutters, Equivalent Focal Length: 162mm, 12MP, 56× Hybrid Zoom. The only thing I see different on the spec list might be the size of the camera sensor and better low light photos. HOWEVER having a thermal camera to perform inspections is an absolute game changer IMO. I’m releasing a thermal mapping video tomorrow that showcases the M3T’s ability to overlay a thermal ortho over a 2D ortho of the same area. That might help you make your decision. I’m sure the M3E is a fantastic aircraft, but IMO the ability to capture thermal FLIR images sets it apart. I think that DJI released each aircraft in the M3 Enterprise series with a specific task in mind. The Multispectral for agriculture and crop analysis, the M3E for mapping and modeling, the M3T for thermals. However with the same stats on the cameras and the ability to capture images IR with the FLIR. I can’t see you being anything but thrilled with the M3T. 🔺

@@Skynetdronesystems Thanks for a good and thorough answer! I was told by my local DJI dealer here in Norway that the M3E had a mechanical shutter while the M3T "only" has an electronic shutter. Therefore M3T was not suitable for mapping at all due to rolling shutter and the "dragging effekt" in the corners of the pictures. From what I could see in the video, the model of the church turned out very well! Can't wait for the next video.

I’m glad I could help out! Here are the specs on the 3E and 3T shutters off of DJI’s website: Shutter Speed DJI Mavic 3E: Electronic Shutter: 8-1/8000 s Mechanical Shutter: 8-1/2000s DJI Mavic 3T: Electronic Shutter: 8-1/8000s So I was wrong in saying the M3T had a mechanical shutter. I’d read this and thought it to be accurate however it appears I was incorrect: “Featuring a mechanical shutter and 56x zoom camera with 640x512 thermal - the DJI Mavic 3T is a powerful drone for first responders and enterprise pilots alike.” That was the top answer I got on Google however it appears to be off of a website not DJI directly. Sorry for any confusion. 🔺

So I created an ortho and oblique mission in the Pilot 2 app on the controller, completed the flights, and am now trying to export the info into FH2 for processing. FB2 isn't allowing me to connect the controller/aircraft, or upload photos into FH2.. Any ideas?

The flight route was created in Pilot 2 on the controller and you’re looking to upload the data into FlightHub 2. I’ve experienced something similar recently. -Login to FlightHub2 on your controller through your internet tab -Try creating a project inside FlightHub2 and making that projects location correspond to your flight mission location on the map. -Turn on then Connect the aircraft to your controller. Go into your media files tab and then see if it will let you upload from the aircraft. If that doesn’t work let me know and I’ll try and figure out an alternative solution for you. 🔺

Thanks for the instruction.........but after setting up the flight route for my home project, the calculated number of photos for all 5 routes came to 91, indeed all routes added up to 91. But after the mission, my "Home-Oblique" folder had 154 photos, 63 more than was calculated. This is my first try at it and am wondering if I did something wrong, thanks.

Most times it’s as simple as a change in the value of the pixel to centimeter data. In other words you captured a higher resolution set of data with a smaller centimeter per pixel ratio. Check to see if the mission altitude in FlightHub 2 is the same as the executed mission data in Pilot 2. Go to the project and take a look at each routes info. It’ll show you the amount of photos taken. When you setup your oblique routes it will automatically set one of them to do an orthomosaic (top down) route as well. Perhaps the ortho route added the extra images? There shouldn’t be that many ortho shots associated with that number of oblique photos taken. However I’d start there. Then take a look at the photos themselves to see if you can identify what route they are associated with. Whatever it is, it’s a very simple fix! 🔺

@@Skynetdronesystems I set the mission altitude at 100 feet (using Alt Mode), but going back into the flight library it said 101.3 feet. In Pilot 2, the flight record indicated that the mission was performed at 95 feet, while the Mapping Quality Report indicates the avg flight altitude was 82.74 ft. Are these differences a normal occurrence? Looking at the 3D image, there's areas shown far enough outside the planned area that, it seems anyway, they really shouldn't be there, perhaps that the difference, IDK. In the Flight Route Library, the ortho flight was 19 photos, while the oblique routes were: 19, 17, 19, 17. Checking the actual photos, there appears to be 11 additional photos on the ortho run, perhaps the oblique runs had addtional as well and that's the difference, again, IDK. I was finally able to determine by overlaying the individual photos on the map that each oblique route contained, respectively, additional photos: 11, 15, 11, and 15 more photos..........when adding the 11 additional ortho photos, the total difference equals the 63 photos over the 91 that were calculated originally. So now, I just need to understand why this occurred..........is it because of the lower " average" flight altitude, and if so, I wonder why the mission altitude was altered from what entered in the Flight Route Library. Suffice to say I'm understanding more of this now.

You’re doing great navigating the software and performing these flight missions! It seems like there were a few additional photos taken during each flight route when the mission was performed in Pilot 2. I’ve noticed some variation in amount of images predicted to be taken inside FlightHub2 and the number captured during the mission in Pilot 2 as well. It might be just the software predicting the amount of photos that will be taken during the mission inside FlightHub2 and the amount taken during the execution in Pilot 2. Or it could be a slight deviation in the altitude/GSD which would cause it as well. Have you processed the data into a model and if so how did it turn out? 🔺

@@Skynetdronesystems Well, I was very impressed with it. But I don't understand the extra "pieces" of imagery far outside that light blue boundary that defines where the oblique flight routes were flown.......meaning, there's imagery even beyond the flight routes of the oblique runs. I'd upload a screen shot but can't here.

Roger that. It’s called “Margin” if you go into Flighthub2, select your project then scroll down on the far left slider to “flight route library”. Choose to edit your flight route by clicking the pencil looking icon next to the 3 dots. Scroll down on the left hand menu to advanced settings. Click on that, then scroll down until you find “Margin”. I checked one of my flight routes and it’s set to 0. Let me know if that solved the issue, if not we’ll get it figured out🔺

can you use this software with the Air 2s?
@Skynetdronesystems
@Skynetdronesystems 6 ай бұрын
I’m not sure, however you 100% can try it for free up to 3,000 mapping images and 2,000 live stream minutes with your DJI account. If that doesn’t work for you, there are a few other options I’ve used. Specifically an open source service called WEBODM (Open Drone Mapping) It’s only $60 for a lifetime subscription. I’ll link it here: webodm.net I’d give DJI FlightHub 2 a shot first. If that doesn’t work for you let me know and I’ll send some more options your way. 🔺

Correcting the post from above. I just looked into it and FlightHub 2 is only designed to operate with Enterprise edition aircraft. Currently the only UAVs that are compatible with the software are the Mavic 3 Enterprise line, M-30 and M-300/M-350. 🔺

The software I mentioned above WEBODM will allow you to process as many maps and 3D models as you want. It doesn’t have a flight route planning option. But you can capture images with your Air2S and then upload them into WEBODM then generate shareable 3D Models, orthomosaic maps and thermal maps. I use it a lot for large surveys that would soak up a lot of my monthly image processing on FlightHub2. It’s fantastic for practicing since there are no monthly fees or image/model/map limit. It will also generate a report for you of the flight, maps and models. Hope that’s helpful 🔺
