Rhonda Dracoulis Founder and Primary Instructor
RK3 Designs started as a way for Rhonda to showcase her creativity but has blossomed into a way to help others find theirs. Her obsession with painting led her to start refinishing furniture and kitchen cabinets. She found customers wanted a nicer option than laminate but more affordable and customizable than natural stone, which lead her to countertop epoxy! Since then, she’s helped thousands of students, from across the country (and even Canada eh?).

@@RK3Designsvery amazing work. You inspired me to give it a try. Unfortunately my patterns weren't as nice as yours. Any tips to redo it? Just sand it, apply a primer and start over on top of the existing epoxy?

I meant before I am doing a dining room table and it is the colors you just used except black. Those colors are in my kitchen and my inspiration comes from Stone Coat’s short clip Special or secret recipe. Love that, and all you do.

someday I will do this for the kitchen in my houseboat. I will add a little more blue but I want white white white in my houseboat. Its small and I want it to look bigger with a few hints of the outside which is blue (roof) white (sides) and grey (trim) Thanks for this. Beautiful

@@RK3Designs If I drag a stick through with a darker green to make some highlights, will that look too overpowering? I'm thinking I should just keep it subtle like the recipe you just made. I probably should make a practice panel before I go all in, but I kind of like happy accidents and might just go for it. I'm a couple weeks from my pour, just finishing up building the custom cabinets from scratch!

I have watched many of your shows as I hope to be redoing our counter tops soon. The only problem I am having is the angle of the camera. It only shows across the project where the lighting lightens the colors a bit and you don't get a view even as you would see from standing near but higher. Is there a way to get a view from above to see it better?

I'm relatively new to your channel and absolutely loving it! I do have a question. When mixing your 3 oz epoxy to 1 square foot, is that including the epoxy you have for your colors or is that extra epoxy mixed up?
@RK3Designs

Hi there! Welcome to the additive epoxy world LOL!! That includes everything. I’ll measure the surface and then multiply to get the total amount of epoxy I’ll need. At that point, I divide it into the different color cups.

51.1K!! Wooohooo!! 🎉🎉🎉 Congratulations!! 👏👏 I really like that finish! The combo of plain, shiny and sparkly for the win!! 🌟🌟 I'm wondering if using some touches of yellow/gold would help reduce the noticeabillity of the ambering? Like using gold instead of silver and a light lemon yellow instead of the blue?

Did you need the additional clear flood coat for this? I thought as long as you didn't use spray paint in your color coat that you could go right to using the UTC. Is it because the added fracture lines later in the curing don't level out completely?

Looks awesome. Have you tried this technique on a lifetime (poly) table? More specifically, can you get the epoxy to stick with the undercoat?
@RK3Designs
@RK3Designs Жыл бұрын
If you apply epoxy to anything slick, you’ll need to scuff the surface then apply a high quality bonding primer. I recommend XIM. Let it dry then test by scratching your fingernail on the surface. If it scratches then let it dry longer or apply another coat. Once dry then paint with the undercoating and pour your epoxy. 😊

I'd think that a plastic folding table would have too much flex for epoxy, but I suppose it depends how you use it
