Solid tutorial Bjorn! I can finally point to a video that explains this in plain English! I explain this to clients on a weekly basis! Thanks a lot for clearing that up. I'm setting up my blog on Wordpress using Elementor and thought anything Wordpress can do could be done in a simpler way using Elementor. Wasted about 20 minutes trying to achieve the same using Elementor this morning.

Hey Cristina, understanding how blogs work with Elementor is probably the most confusing part of Elementor. So once you have this nailed down everything is easy! 😊

@@wplearninglab Thanks! So basically, you don't need Elementor to edit a page or blog post. Is that correct? The person who designed my website used Elementor to create the pages and they keep crashing. I wrote a blot post following your advice. It's so much simpler.

How can you do it without Elementor Pro? I have Elementor Pro for my main website, but for my subdomains I am just using Elementor (free version). Is there a way you embed blog posts, categories etc without upgrading to Pro? Thanks

Thank you for the video. But what if one blog post has two images and an accordion, and another blog post has one image and a video? If the template were created with a "two image + accordion" blog post in mind, how will it handle a new blog post with one image and a video?

Hey Nicolai, there are no dumb questions :) Sorry for the long delay. In case you're still looking for an answer for this I'll write it below. When you're using Elementor Pro to create a blog post template you have a comment widget that you can add to the template. It has some design options, but it's nothing too fancy. I don't know for sure, but there may be some third party Elementor add-ons you can use to customize the appearance of the comments section too. Buuuuuuut, if you want to design something REALLY unique with the comments section you'll have to do it with CSS and possibly WordPress functions.

It's not correct though, you can in fact edit a post and publish it in Elementor. To do so, you must first add posts to the content type Elementor should work with from the settings, after that, make a new post and click edit with Elementor.

Hi Naldy, When you choose to work with posts by turning it on in the Elementor settings it lets you edit the blog post template with Elementor. As far as I know, you cannot edit the written content and images on individual blog post using Elementor.

@wplearninglab I wonder if this is something the theme developer can build in functionality for...I switched to an Elementor theme a handful of months ago, when my blog was already well-established. I write/edit all my new posts directly in Elementor. When I pull up one of the older posts written in the classic editor, I can select the "blue button" to edit in Elementor and that works also.

Hey Axl, Problems like this can be tricky. The first thing I would do is make sure all the plugins, the theme and the WordPress core files are updated to the latest versions. Then check to see if the images are showing. If not, clear your cache and cookies or use a different browser to see if the images show after that. If not, try switching themes, just for a few minutes to see if images show. If you have a high traffic site, you'll probably want to try this on a staging site. Hopefully, one of those does something so we can further diagnose the problem.

@@wplearninglab Hi again. When I switched theme to Twenty-twenty-three both the featured image and head title was shown but only on new articles, not on articles created with Elementor Hello. As soon as I switched back to Hello theme the featured image was gone. I also noticed something odd - the title is showed when publishing an empty article with Hello theme, but as soon as I edit it with Elementor, like adding text or images, the title disappears. Do you have any ideas on how to move on further from this state? I also wanna give you a huge thanks for taking time.

Yes But.. How would i make a blog page that would show all blog posts, full content with the templet design? Posts widget or archive widget do not seem to support this request.

Hi Keren, I just tested this so it works on my version of Elementor Pro (2.10.2). With Elementor Pro you create an "Archive" template, which is designed to list all the posts in a post type. I used the template that has each blog post as full width. It's the second one when choose the Archive template. Once the archive template is imported, change the "Skin" in the options to "Full Content". It doesn't look pretty out of the box, but I'm sure you can tweak it to make it nicer. I hope that helps!

Hello ! I have a question. What is the reason why you cannot post directly in Elementor Pro? I made all the blog posts this way, because I can make them look better. In parallel, however, I added the post to WP (but only with the title, meta description, service, category...etc). But without the actual content. I built each post in Elementor Pro with a text editor. I like it better because it looks better.

Same! If you make the post through Wordpress there is no use to all the features Elementor has... I can't place toggle's, icon boxes etc. between the post content. It really does not make sense to me to make it in Wordpress to me. If you just make a standard blog post with just tekst and some images it fine in Wordpress, but when you want to use some nice extra features it's useless. Wonder if there are more people who do this.

If people are starting off by creating pages and using Elementor to create those pages then it is fair to assume they might not realise they can simply use posts for their blog posts. I think this video clears up an important issues in a simple way.

Well, that's not entirely accurate. Even Elementor itself has a video on how to edit a blog post with Elementor, which provides wider opportunities to create a unique blog post design. Of course, if later for some reason you decide to stop using Elementor and switch to another page builder, it would cause inconvenience.

My two cents...I think it's because Elementor solves problems for users who are use to using something like Wix, Weebly builders. It would feel very familiar to them. I see where you're coming from - Elementor is code heavy, Block Editor is getting better etc The amount of plugins and help videos (like Bjorn's!) Is just massive compared to plugins, help videos for the Block editor - only at the moment though...!

Hi Aaron, I agree, I've been slowly shifting focus to block-related content and even building my own sites with blocks. I'll be publishing more videos for using "blocks" going forward, but I'll also still be publishing Elementor-related videos. There are lots of people using both. I even have a another channel were I teach how to build websites with just HTML/CSS/JS: kzfaq.info/love/5vKV-35odZlYXVQ_G0sSsg There are a lot of people who want to build with just the fundamentals.

I have built over 300 sites using elementor. I have revisited blocks many times, so much you can't do. Just take the header and footer editing, it's so easy and WYSIWYG. As a programmer also I can write code in-between elementor. My sites consist of only 5 plugins. Slimline. Block I would never teach anyone. Look how much classic editor has been downloaded to prevent blocks from working.
