@@TIMORUMGamers it's a game where each person takes a turn and roll the dice then have the choice to move someone foward or back, there are also a few special spaces to make the game a bit more interesting

Make design goals. The goal of this design is player interaction, heavy theme, etc etc. Then brainstorm things that fit those mechanics.

It totally is! There are negatives about paper - it crumbles, if you drop any liquid on it, it's useless and you also can't move words around on the page nearly as easily as you can digitally.

My game is going to be an SCP board game, acting like a trading card game, but all the cards for both players are already in the box. The whole idea is to contain or neutralise every SPC (20 in total, two copies of 10 SCPs I have chosen myself) by either using containment cards of varying strength or playing SPCs or SPC Staff to fight the opponents SPCs or SPC staff, with the addition of ‘assist’ cards such as mobile task forces, a nuke, and an instant breach card that allow you to choose an SCP in the opponent’s containment site, then let them breach into their breach zone, where they will remain until recontained, or move somewhere else upon the activation of a containment breach ability, which may be instant or after a certain amount of turns/relying on certain criteria to be met.

Interesting🤔 I'll definitely take all this into account with my "wars of zuldris" board game. Btw, I am having trouble in how to create the board itself. It's gonna be made in a kinda special way which I couldn't find any videos on how I could do it the way my board will be designed. If you see this comment, could I possibly ask you to answer if you wanna help so I can get into more detail? I have the genuine idea of how it should look, but because of how it's designed, I have no idea how to produce the board.

my dream is to become a video game design. but until i have the resources to make one, i'll try to design a board game based on RPGs, but that is really fun and intuitive to play.
@TIMORUMGamers
@TIMORUMGamers 5 жыл бұрын
Video game and board game design have some big similarities and often times are doing the same thing - one is digital, the other is analog. The benefit with board game design is that you don't need to have programming experience in order to build a game. However, that doesn't mean that board game design is easy. In a video game the computer is managing all of the rules for the player. In this aspect board game design is much harder than video game design. Try creating a game with depth that is also easy for the player to understand and follow the rule structure... it's very challenging. With that said, go for it! Board game design is a great way to get into video game design! Let me know how it goes.

@TIMORUMGamers
@TIMORUMGamers 5 жыл бұрын
Ummm... well, I think you may want to start on how you want the player experience to be and then move into what game mechanics will provide that type of experience. How much do you want to focus on education? How much do you want to focus on the game actually being fun? All of these variables (plus many more) matter.

thankx for this video. i what to make a simple table top games for kids. Im currently in the brainstorm stage. my question is How much would a simple table top card based game cost to get made average range .? thankx again
@TIMORUMGamers
@TIMORUMGamers 7 жыл бұрын
It depends on how many cards their are and any other components in your game. To get a decent idea of what the cost will be, I would suggest you head over to The Game Crafter and enter in all of the components and see how much the total comes out to be. That will be your base cost. Then, the final price will depend on how much you are looking to make in profit. Let me know how things turn out!

Hi im new to creating long time playing Iv just started makimg my own game based on what i wish my favourate games had and do. So its a mash of about 4 games with my own mechanics thrown in. Im in the brain storm phase/concept stage wilst adding a key note sheet for things i wana come back to. I giess my main question is where do i find help and how do i go to tje next stage? Help would be a god send if you could pojnt me in a direction
@TIMORUMGamers
@TIMORUMGamers 6 жыл бұрын
I would suggest that you throw together some quick rules and create a mock-up game; your next stage is essentially creating a prototype. However, you may need to do a little more work to figure out some base rules to get things going. I would highly recommend checking out the next few videos that I have on both mechanics and prototyping: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hMCZq7efqKfNqH0.html

Once you have concept, and once designed. How would you recommend the next stage of creating a prototype and turning it into a product. Thank-you
@TIMORUMGamers
@TIMORUMGamers 4 жыл бұрын
When you think that you're done, do more playtesting. Then, update your game, and perform more playtesting. That last 10% of game-creation is oftentimes the most tedious of making an iteration, getting feedback, creating updates, and then playtesting once again. Many games fall flat here. With that said, when you're done (to an extent - you're never really done), you will want to go from prototype to an ALPHA stage - this is where you have your rules 95+% complete and you're just working on optimizing the UI (artwork). At this point, I would suggest work on finding an artist to begin building components to a more "finished" state. The prototype should just turn into a better, more professional prototype.

@TIMORUMGamers
@TIMORUMGamers 5 жыл бұрын
What do you mean by business themed? Also, by easy I'm guessing something that you will be able to put together yourself since you're doing all the work for your group... I would suggest something with minimal components - cards, and maybe a gameboard if you want to get crazy. Give me some more info and I'll see what I can do to help.

Who's your customer is not a good question. It's a Biz question not a creative question imo the best games and all creative endeavors were made with only the joy of the creator in mind. Not enjoying yourself or sacrifice passion for profit is a sure-fire way to get burnt out on an idea you don't actually like. The idea that gets you fired up is the idea you will push through to the end.! if you don't follow your heart in the beginning the end will be a heartless slog in a swamp of willpower sucking servility where you will continually question why it is you started the thing. Every hero and every praise worthy endevour in history started with nay-sayers saying they could never make money doing x.y. And z. Now people like Rodney Mullen and Arnold schwarzenegger of success. Don't think about the money kids think about the fire in your belly. "Do I love this idea enough to suffer pain sacrifice and ridicule?" That's a question worth asking.
@TIMORUMGamers
@TIMORUMGamers 6 жыл бұрын
I appreciate your input and I agree. Any art form requires for an innate desire to design something that you personally are passionate about. If there was no passion, you wouldn't be putting in the hours upon hours of hard work, discovery, testing and all the rest. The question you're asking is the question that you must start with. Perhaps it's a subject for another video.
