In this movie we teach you how to create your very own Bonsai tree from a nursery plant. For more information see:
www.bonsaiempire.com/courses/...
The movie follows a five-step approach to growing a Bonsai tree; selecting a tree, pruning, wiring, repotting and Bonsai care. The tree we style in this movie is a Juniper.
Credits:
Aydio - Music
Clingendael - Japanese garden

Saw lots of comments asking this so thought ide write my own. These trees aren’t genetically miniature, they aren’t malnourished. They are a regular tree that is kept small through rigorous pruning and trimming/ repotting of the root system. There are bonsai trees over 1000 years old that are less than 2 meters high. Truely amazing and a very dedicated art form. If you want to start, junipers and ficus trees are cheap good starters :)

They’re small because the pot is small hence the definition of the word bonsai. You need to pay attention. Bonsai means shallow pot planting. That is what makes the trees small. Malnourished?! Hahaha learn things before you say things.

@@justinmagee2203 plants can grow out of their pots…. And in fact some trees can grow out of their pots. (Money trees) I think what you mean is that it’s an artificial tree that’s trained to be small. Just to clarify more of why I am wrong. But seriously it was like a dwarf tree

@@justinmagee2203 you know plants can grow out of their pots right. They aren't just magically small, why would they evolve to be lower on the ground and get less sunlight than other trees. "Hahaha learn things before you say things" right back atcha

They probably don’t have enough light or the soil is wrong. If you use soil that doesn’t drain well enough(like anything Miracle-gro) then it won’t live long. If you use potting soil, you’d always want to add some horticultural sand and warm gravel into it

I guess from sometime in the early to mid 90's, my dad took interest in bonsai trees and started experimenting with growing his own. The amount of work and time it takes to create one beautiful Bonsai is awe inspiring. The richness of Japanese and Asian culture in general, the dedication and the firm believe anything can be cultivated and refined to an art, seems to be sometimes lost in translation due to cultural misunderstandings. I was considering maybe trying to experiment a bit with Bonsai and just landed on this video as a quick reference..

The Phoenix you can but you got to be careful because the thick branches are easily fractured, and the tree is sensitive to root pruning.

Two questions: - How old should the plant be, before you start shaping it like this? 3-4 years or even younger? - What are the wires you use made of? I heard there are different types for different purposes (iron, aluminum etc..) By the way, gorgeous video and super clear explanation! Thanks :)
