After watching this I went and brought a small juniper and for the first time I actually made a decent looking little bonsai!! It’s possibly the wrong time in uk so I’m gonna let the tree rest before I repot next spring... thanks for the tips

There’s always been something so special to me about seeing those bonsai trees with beautiful bends and flowing movements. I’ve got some Japanese cedar seeds on the way, I’ve never owned Bonsai before but god I can’t wait to have a couple of my own that I can shape, trim and generally love.

Clear and helpful. I bought (£5) from garden centre the same pine and almost same shape on Sunday. I practiced wiring it yesterday and a mess! I watched this video this morning (having a cup of coffee in my bed 😉). Found I didn’t start in the right way. I will try again....with the same tree (poor tree😁). May be the finishing touch (cut there and here) in the normal speed will be a massive help???? Thank you Master.

Love your work. My husband just bought me two bonsai trees. A juniper and a gardenia. I'm terrified of killing them as I've only cared for succulents. You make it look so easy. I find caring for any kind of living plants as a form of art and I really want to shape my trees more but they're already big (3 years old), pre-potted. Do you have a tutorial on an older juniper bonsai?

Very nice! Love the way you transformed a very plain tree into something so appealing to the eye. And so quickly. Also, the “manhandling” of the tree is very reassuring. My bonsai instructor emphasizes (overly?) being so, so delicate. They’re not. And I won’t be going forward. Thank you!

Hey, thanks for making these videos, probably the clearest and most concise I've found on the subject. I've recently bought a few nursery stock trees to have a go with including a juniper and your videos always bring me back from the brink of thinking it's too hard and the knowledge and techniques are beyond me, they make me want to give things a go. One question, when wiring the small branches on a juniper as per this video, do you wire the young, green parts of the branch or just the older, woody sections?

I have a question: how would we get the bonsai to this point? I recently got a bonsai sapling that does not have any bark yet and only a few leaves. Do I let it grow freely for a while before trying to bend and train it? How long should I wait? Does it need to be in a specific kind of pot?
@Julie-my6ds
@Julie-my6ds Жыл бұрын
Yes, the pot is what makes it bonsai or not. I prefer a bigger shaped pot so I can leave it to grow for a couple years without having to repot so soon. Leave it to grow, get some bonsai feed for it, Google how to take care of whatever type of tree it is, and after maybe a year of growth, it might be ready to start shaping. Also, what type of substance its growing it matters too. I use a special blend of 'soil' which looks like lots of little stones and chips which release nutrients and help to keep the bonsai at the right moisture level for my trees.
