How to create a Google My Business listing (the right way)

Creating a Google my business listing may seem easy at first. The 2019 interface is very intuitive, so it seems. You go to Google my business, create an account, start filling up the form and, in less than 10 minutes, you're done..
A few days later you verify your listing with the Google postcard verification code hopping customers will be flooding in...but the phone stays quiet.
Why?
- Have you chosen the right category for your business?
- Was there a Google listing for your business already in Google?
- Did you fully optimise your listing so you get the best chances of being found in the Google snack pack and across Google maps results?

Same as any other GMB. Use the service option as opposed to an fixed address and set up your opening times according to your schedule

Hi there. The purpose of images are to o spotlight features of your business that customers consider when making purchasing decisions. I don't feel sights will be part of that unless you have taken them yourself to illustrate a particular service you provide such as a bike tour with a site in the background

Hey there - question for you. I buy apartment complexes that need a lot of renovation and work to improve the community. Typically when we acquire the property, they have a lot of bad reviews that we inherit. We then go in and renovate the complex and make it a great place to live which makes me think those reviews are no longer valid. Do you know if there's a way to eliminate those outdated reviews? Ni Muhammed. The main option is through a postcard. Most businesses will not have access to other options which are granted by Google anyway.

There is one issue which I cannot seem to understand when adding my business to google maps. The thing is that when for example you go to google maps, type in a specific postcode in search field and hit enter and slightly zoom into the area then it will display local businesses such as photo studios, cafes, hotels, restaurants, hospitals and so on yet by default since my business location is also in that postcode, it does not display in the map unless I search for it by entering a specific keyword such as photographer or type in the business name. And if clearing the search, the business location also disappears from the map. Is this do with algorithm or is it a bug? This is after my business has been verified.

Google will not list all businesses located in one postcode otherwise there won’t be enough room to list them all. Only common ones will be listed.

@@rankingacademy When we first started the business, we did not know anything about google my business and so this person said they would create one for us. So the person made it some time ago but I think the person who created our ad sold the ad to another person.

No, It shouldn't affect your rankings. As a matter of fact, according to Google's guidelines, you mustn't add you address as a service type of business. I work with an electrician and this is exactly what i do. And yes you can build citations using your address. Google knows where you are anyway

Hi Charlotte. I think your question refers to multiple practitioners at the same address. I viewed your video twice and have one question. I have a google my business account for my business. I would like to follow your instructions to open a google my business account for my client's business. When I follow your instructions, google keeps referring me back to my account and will not let me proceed to create the account for my client. I called google support but they were not very helpful. Any suggestions?

Are you using a unique Gmail account for your client? If not log out of everything, create a gmail address for your client and set up a gmb profile with it.

Hi, I can see my business on the map only if I search. I don't see the grey pin as we see for similar other business what should I do?

Ranking Academy Yes i added complete address but it was not working so I mentioned area & street address just as nearby businesses. 1 more thing to add I verified my listing 1 month back

That's not a problem. Since you are a local business Google will not display their listing instead of yours as proximity is the n#1 ranking factor

I don't know if you will respond to this because of it being 2020 but I hope you do because I am kinda lost. I am waiting for my verification code in the mail and once I verify it, is it mine? or do I still have to type up the name on the google map or google search and click on "own this business?" Do I still have to claim it once I input the verification code? or is the verification code just it. Once I put the code inside its mine and no one can claim my business anymore? I say this with so many questions because someone claimed my old business and used my reputation to get clients. I was new at making a google my business and had no idea what I was doing? I am making a new business.

Once you've claimed and verified a legitimate business it is "yours" Once verified you're all done and your business can be found in google

Ranking Academy Omg thank you so much for responding. I created a new business name and I am waiting for my verification code. Sry if I seem dumb but I’m so nervous if it happens again. Sir it is compulsory that the contact number which we are listing on google my business should have business account number.

how can I link my website to google my business? I paste my "WordPress" website URL into google my business "add website" section but then when I test to see if it take me to my website which I made from "WordPress" it does not take me into that website but instead, it took me into google my business its own website that has nothing to do with the website that I made from "WordPress"
