Did you not need compost? I'm trying to rescue an elephant hawk moth caterpillar and the website talking about housing caterpillars in general said to do a big layer of compost for it to dive into.

@@Void-Realmnot all caterpillars need that for example monarchs do not need it and red woods do not need that I think but monarchs I know definitely do not need it
