phew! this was a long one. If anything isn't clear or you have any questions reach out to me in the comments. One thing I didn't make clear in the video was when moving the 3d text so the camera goes through the "O" in Resolve, you should only use the x and the y axis to position the 3D text, after you copy the 3d point to the translation.

Very detailed and useful video, thank you for taking the time. It would be useful if Davinci had a shadow catcher rather than us having to create it manually from the ground plane (make white, multiply etc, etc) I think Blender has a shadow catcher material pre-made.

this is so well presentented. i have a question, at 20:41 youre talking about the planer transform from the track of the car. i get that the mask of the car will "move" with the car but how does the mask of the car change in size over the time ? or this is the point/function of the planer-transform created, to transform (change in size)
@prophetless
@prophetless Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes when we did the planar track we set it to translation, rotate and scale. It will give us that information, provided the planar track does a good track. So when we add the mask to the input of the planar transform it will match the scale(change size), along with the translation and rotation if there is any. Does that answer your question?

@@prophetless excuse me, teacher there’s another a problem for me. I made four Text 3d connect to merge 3-D. From the first to the fifth text3d are allowed to paste transition group settings.I want to make fifth text 3d connect to the merge 3-D. I paste transition group settings on the fifth text 3d. It is not working on the fifth 3-D text. How do I paste transition group settings on the fifth 3-D text ? Or how do I create the second merge 3-D
@prophetless
@prophetless 6 ай бұрын
Sounds like a bug. I would make a second merge 3D where you put your 5th 3D Text in. Then add the output of that 3d merge into the 1st 3d merge. See if that helps.

Hiya! Me again ... different video ... different question .. if I may. This relates to the shadows from the text onto the Groundplane. I was having problems replicating this (within my own project) even though I was doing everything the same ... well, almost. Everything was perfect until 17:03, but after changing the render type to "Software Renderer", there was no shadow. Doing a few of the steps in a slightly different order, it became obvious that the shadows disappeared when the render type was changed. I as totally baffled. Then I realised what was very slightly different in my project ... I was using a Directional Light instead of a Spotlight. Returning to my saved run through of your tutorial, and replacing the Spotlight with an identically positioned/oriented Directional Light, the same happened ... and changing the Ground Plane Blend Mode back to Addative, yup, the shadows appear/disappear when changing the Render Type between Open GL and Software ... but this isn't the case with Spotlight. So ... the question ... - is this a glitch in Fusion (DR 18.5.1)? .. or .. - is there something more fundamentally different between the two light types that I'm unaware of? Thanks again. 👍
@prophetless
@prophetless 9 ай бұрын
Sorry I some how missed this comment. From my understanding the spotlight was the only light that casts true shadows. I understand that the directional light has a shadow option now but honestly I never use it. So I haven't really looked into this issue but I see what you mean.
@OzoneVibe
@OzoneVibe 9 ай бұрын
@@prophetless Thanks for your reply. Not managed to find shadows from directional light. Perhaps I'm missing something. Needed this on another project where multiple items, a distance apart, had to cast "sun" shadows, and a single light just doesn't work without the shadows being obviously divergent. Something that sun shadows don't do, so the result looked completely wrong. Ended up using multiple instances of a spotlight, spaced identically as the objects that needed to cast shadows, using a narrow cone that illuminated only its related object. What a faff! 🤣 Thanks for your reply, though. 👍
@prophetless
@prophetless 9 ай бұрын
So I looked into this a little more. Apparently the directional light shadow casting only works using the hardware renderer. So I would just use the hardware renderer for the shadows. It actually works quite nice. If you have it split up in passes, like in this tutorial, then it shouldn't matter with the objects wether you use software or hardware rendering unless you need something like Depth of Field. I'm glad you brought this up because I probably would have never looked into this. I typically go to a 3D application for lighting that's anything more than simple. I'd be curious how it worked for your project where you needed sunlight. From my quicklook at it it should work great.

Using 18.5 on M1 Mac.

You probably don't need to delete the trackers. If you have a decent solve from the initial solve just go with that. Following the steps so carefully .. but at 31:31 my ImagePlane isn't showing any shadows falling on it from the extruded text. It's in the correct 3D position, immediately behind the text. Somewhere I'm being an idiot, but an hour spent stuck at this point hasn't revealed the issue.
@prophetless
@prophetless Жыл бұрын
It's probably just one setting that isn't turned on or off. You are not alone I even did it in the video around 35 minutes in. I had forgotten to take the background off the camera. Start with looking through the 3d merge where the image plane is connected make sure you have shadows turned on in your viewer. If you don't see any shadows make sure affected by lights is turned on in the image plane, it is by default. If all that looks good, move on to looking through the 3d render for the scene. Make sure it's set to software render and lighting and shadows are turned on. Let me know if any of those thinks fixed it. If not let me know and we'll figure it out

@@prophetlessStrange. I shall never know what the problem was. Had to close resolve to do some other things, and when I reloaded there wasn't an issue. Perhaps I had been previewing the wrong node - but i don't think so. My laptop is old an minimal spec, and perhaps it has stopped processing all the nodes. Whichever - all finished and working. Many thanks for the video and the assistance. 👍
