My friend you can’t leave it untouched for 2 years, cause it will go back to stage one. Roots grow extremely fast and if not directed to as where you want them to go, they will just curl back inwards. The ideal work time is 6 to 9 months so you can eliminated unwanted roots and direction.

You want to keep it untouched so you get an even growth ring. Once the caudex is cut it will never develop a bulbous caudex again. After 2 years you have a ton of roots then flatten it 🙂

I might also add that I’m no longer in a tropical climate that’s why the two years. If you live in Florida repot it in 4-6 month.

Great video! Would love to know how old the desert roses you showed pics of are, as well as the age of the specimen you were working on! Mine is so small right now, so--goals for sure :D

I am curious what the benefit is of repotting it into a deep pot, versus immediately repotting it into a shallow but wide pot. Would it not encourage more radial root growth that way?

Very informative. Wondering if putting the plant in two plastic discs about the same s size of those two trunks would aid in focusing the direction of root growth out and away from the trunk(s)? Looking forward to seeing this plant at its next stage. Two years seems a long time away. Keep up the great videos.

Thank you for your comment. That is exactly it, we use the deep pot to get the roots started and then in 1-2 years we will flatten the roots

Hello Jerome. I love you guys. I'm trying to find out more about the temps for the DR. I know everyone says, "It doesn't like night temps below 50deg F." Not "liking" it; does that mean it'll die if the night temps get below 50 or it'll just piss it off a little? Can it tolerate it? What actually happens? I live in South Louisiana and it's supposed to be Spring, but we are still occasionally getting a night here and there that dip below 50deg for a few hours. I work offshore and I'm gone for 2 weeks at a time. I LOVE my neighbors because they help take care of all my bonsai and koi fish when I'm gone, but don't want to eventually burn them out by moving my plants back and forth every two days because the weather is STUPID right now. Can you give me a little guidance on what happens when the DR gets temps below 50, and how many hours of it can it tolerate before it just dies and never returns. Thanks in advance.

Love the video-very helpful. So, what about the Arabicum? Do you do the same thing s with it? and is the soil the same?

Hi Jerome, Nice video. I try to do twice with my Adenium but I was unsaccesfull. Maybe I started to water Plant to early. My question is: do you apply any root hormone?
@WeareTheBonsaiSupply
@WeareTheBonsaiSupply 8 ай бұрын
Hi! I don't use root hormones on Adeniums. You probably watered too early, or didn't wait long enough before the cut. I don't water for a month in total.

How do you create more branching on top?

The more you prune the more back branching you will get. I have several videos on my channel showing the process if you are interested.

Dude my gut did a full suck when you cut off all the roots in one flat chop. I have the same size adenium but I think I made a mistake or two. I didnt leave it to dry 2 weeks. I cut offall leaves, flowers and limbs a few inches from the caudex, all being too high, 12-14 inches. Then i cleaned up some roots and repotted, and still did the splash every 3-4 days. I'm hoping the plant hasn't rotted at the roots. Hoping the new shoots will pop out closer to the caudex. I've added hydrogen peroxide 1:40 to the splash of water every 3-4 days. Hope I didn't kill the damn thing. I give it an inspirational talk every morning. And shake it and say goodnight every evening. When time permits I play some tunes on the guitar to it orplay some of the beta, alpha vibes on apps by bluetooth during the day. I think plants are responsive to certain sounds and vibrations. I'll know if it dies my taste in music sucks.

@@mightytort4739 It's just beautiful. These plants are real survivors. The only thing they require is time. Time, time, time. I ordered some adeniumseeds, both arabicum and the other one, and started them 4 weeks ago. They now have 4-5 leaves and chopstick thin stems. Will be transplanting to a 4-6 inch pots and will begin root training. Watching a host of YT videos from different vloggers I believe I managed to absorb enough info, tips, real tips, data, rumor, gossip that has given me confidence to deal with adeniums straight on. Thanks to all.

not a fan of your soil. its to rigid. doesn't allow room for growth. it causes indentions in the caudex and root system as the plant grows.
