How to Create an Effects Bus Logic - Create an Aux Track (Send Track)
In this tutorial I will show you how to create an effects bus so you can send audio from any track, including a virtual instrument track and colour it with any effects you like such as reverb and delay.
This is a much better way of using effects as you don't need to say, put a reverb plugin on every track, you simply create an Aux Track, place the reverb plugin on the Aux track and then send audio from any number of tracks to that effects track. You will use much less CPU and RAM and will be able to create more tracks without dropouts or slowing down your session.

@@James-pc1ku I come from a musical background and I think I'm at the point where I just don't understand mixing and mastering. It really is a different skill set than being a musician. I've tried to learn and watch videos on youtube and I even mixed and masterered one of my own songs using ozone - Jeremyeightyeight is my artist name. But I think my feeling now is to focus on what I'm good at and let a pro mix and master. Sure it costs more, but I want to be proud of the songs I release and spend my free time on those rather than learning an entirely new craft.

Haha .. I was looking for something and found this video again .. but I must say, the one thing I'd mention this time is YES, there ARE reasons you would want to choose DUAL MONO - this gives access to the mid/side menu. So for example, if you have two panned guitars, you might want to create the effect as mid/side and have the reverb operate only on the side channels for the panned guitars. Similarly, for something that is centered, and you want to keep the reverb (or any effect) from bleeding into the sides, you might want to have it only operate in the mid section. Also, good to always add an EQ to any reverb to low cut (high pass) the lower frequency rumble.

Thanks so much for this vid!! I keep returning to this video, as it's so helpful for returning to to remind myself. One question.....I tried this with my emulation mic, but the mic seems like it has to be set up within each channel.....unless you know of a trick for this? I'd love to be able to send the tracks to one emulation aux track, but it seems not possible......??

What’s up I can’t find a video in regards to what I am about to ask every video that I’ve seen is related to this and this is not my issue, my issue is that I have a couple of lead vocal tracks that are going to be using the same plug-ins so obviously I don’t want to place those plug-ins on each individual track, I created a auxiliary with EQ, compression, the S, whatever the case might be and for some reason I cannot route my lead vocal track to the auxiliary in logic pro I placed for instance my auxiliary channel to be an input 3-4 and my vocal Lee track input three Dash four, didn’t work, I even tried going out and placing the output in three Dash four nothing please if anyone could help me it would mean the world

why is the input a bus rather than the organ track itself? thanks!
@StudioHacks
@StudioHacks 4 жыл бұрын
Because you can send multiple tracks to the bus, you might want to use the reverb on 4-5 or more tracks. If you selected the organ as the input to the effects track, you could only run that one sound through the effects, and you also could't really control how much volume you were sending through to the effects track without affecting the original track also. The sends and the bus system is independent of the main track faders.

'Always select stereo'.. No explanation as to why... just do it ?
@StudioHacks
@StudioHacks 4 жыл бұрын
I should have said, the best practice is to select stereo when using effects busses. If you have mono effects busses all your effects will be downmixed to mono making a boxy sound to your mix.

What's the function of DRY and WET for plugins ? Thanks !
@ryanmannix5422
@ryanmannix5422 5 жыл бұрын
'Dry' is the amount of the original input without the effect added and 'Wet' is the amount of the effect sound you get. If you set dry to 0 you are left with only the effect sound and if you set the Wet to 0 you'll get no effect. The plugin might not perfectly represent this due to it's algorithm but that's the way to think about it.
