Decided to try graded discussions in my undergrad module for the first time. This video was super useful in terms of showing me the basics and getting a feel for the Canvas functionality.

is there a way to make other groups' discussions viewable to every student?

You could add another Assign To box and add "Everyone" to it. If you don't want them to post, you'll have to set the due date in the past. Unfortunately, they will show up in the gradebook, though, so you may have to remove the assign to box after they view it.

Great vid! Is there a way to easily grade students' responses to other students at a different point value?

You can set up a rubric and use it for grading. A simple rubric might have 10 points for the initial post and 5 points for a response for a total of 15 points. You can then click on the rubric boxes accordingly which fills in the points for you.

Context. I have a single canvas course that I use to teach a 6-module asynchronous seminar every semester. I would like to add new students but I want it to look fresh for each semester's students

@@GeoShark3088 Yes, this method would give each new group a fresh discussion. You will have to edit the discussion after adding each new group so that it is assigned to the new group(s).
