Thanks for the comment, glad you found it useful. In the past I used a glass type surface, but now with AC25 Graphic Overrides, you can just pick a color in the G.O. Rule and set whatever transparency you'd like. So you don't actually have to create a surface like I did with AC24 version. You can also turn off the contours in the same step, which will ghost it out even more! Sometimes those contours are nice to see tho...

How do you use this Graphic Overides in the collaboration whith your colaborators and clients? Or maybe this is useful only for an efficient workflow and not for sharing with the colaborators and clients!?
@CONTRABIM

Graphic Overrides can be used in so many ways... during meetings with team members or clients, it helps to focus the conversation and scope of work so its easier to see and discuss. You can also export to BIMx with Graphic Overrides for sharing different views of a model. It is certainly useful for creating drawings as well, and I use it often instead of having duplicated pen sets for highlighting and fading different scopes. Hope this answers your question!

Hello bro, this is so nice. Could you please explain how to override using wireframe 3D Style? Because whenever I try, It doesn't go through with the highlighted feature I want to visualize or edit.
@CONTRABIM
@CONTRABIM 3 жыл бұрын
Using a wireframe 3D style, it's going to override everything to be wireframe. You could still override the pens, but that is all you'll get in 3D. If you want to have some content wireframe, and a scope normal or shaded, you could setup a layer combination to wireframe out what you don't want solid. Hope this makes sense! The ghosting effect is a way to bypass wireframe and make everything else really light and very transparent using a common surface setting.

Thanks, glad you found it useful! I used polygon morphs, which works pretty well as it shows up in 2D plan view, as well as 3D. You can also use these for basic takeoffs and pricing, but the only limitation is we can't calculate the length right now which would be super useful... Hopefully one day:)

Great video! Looks like an amazingly well documented build too! How do you do your rough carpentry framing?
@CONTRABIM
@CONTRABIM 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jamie! Rough Carpentry is a combo of columns, beams, and the roof wizard tools. I'm not using any specific plugins or add-ons, just the out of the box functionality. I think the stud wall framing took a little over an hour to do on this one. Once you rig things up and find a rhythm it goes fast... Thanks for the comment, glad you liked the video!
@xelcise89

CONTRABIM ah cool! I had tried to set up railings and curtain walls to handle the spacings automatically with framing before (after having some failed experiments with the wall framing goodie from graphisoft years ago), but it made the model incredibly slow and it was very hard to make things display symbolically as you’d hope. That and the fact that they still don’t intersect or interact properly...
@CONTRABIM
@CONTRABIM 4 жыл бұрын
@@xelcise89 Yes the Goodie framing tool can get close on the representation, but doesn't work well for any quantity takeoffs. It's really difficult to modify after the fact as well, and you have to edit the GDL script to create an offset from face of wall. Interesting thought to try to create framing with railings and curtainwalls! I could see how a curtainwall could get close, but sometimes it's just faster and easier to create individually. Something like headers with varying sizes would be difficult to work out, but easy when placing manually.
@xelcise89
@xelcise89 4 жыл бұрын
CONTRABIM Exactly! I got close to making it work well but there were so many unique connections and one-off instances of headers that it made it untenable. Plus having over 100 curtain walls made my Mac want to die i think
@CONTRABIM
@CONTRABIM 4 жыл бұрын
@@xelcise89 Part of that could have been the intersections? Did you have them all set to a unique layer priority or to zero? Archicad should handle 100 curtain walls no problem, but if they are all intersecting with the walls then that could cause some performance issues. Same thing would happen with the columns/beams as demonstrated, important to set to a different priority not to intersect

Thanks for the lesson, i understand it carefully. but I want to ask how to make ghost surface? (2:35 minute)
@CONTRABIM
@CONTRABIM 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for the question. The Ghost Surface is similar to glass, just a little more transparent and lightened up in color a little bit so it doesn't get so dark and muddy. I think I just copied a glass surface to start, then made the adjustments... play with it until you feel its right!
@sam10sam449

@@CONTRABIM I have tried it with other materials with glass but not as good as what is in the video. And i will try again
@CONTRABIM
@CONTRABIM 3 жыл бұрын
@@sam10sam449 Yes just keep with it, lighten up the transparency and colors may help. Also having your contour lines turned on or off may make a big difference as well. The Graphic Override can control your pen for the Ghosted content so make it light if you have a light background color...

I am interested in how you create the structural framing inside the wall. Is that beams and columns and classified them in different structural elements? We are doing both architectural and structural plans in archicad. I don't know which is the proper way to do the framing customized beams and columns profile or using structural objects in the library. It would be great if you can share your idea of modeling the structural framing. Thanks a lot.

Chenrun Li thanks for the comment. In this case, yes columns and beams for stud wall framing and ceiling joists, used the roof wizard for the rafters! I’ll have to do a video specifically on the stud wall framing method, seems a lot of interest in that!

The electrical components are from the USA Library. It's important with these objects to make sure to turn on the 3d option in the settings, most the time they are setup for 2d only. Check your electrical objects and see if you have this option, if you're using another Archicad library then they may be slightly different. Thanks for the question!

Is there any way to ghost like this and make the ghosted elements not selectable so that you can easily select and edit the highlighted systems?
@CONTRABIM
@CONTRABIM 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Neil. Honestly I'm not sure if it's possible to make elements non-selectable. Even if they were locked, they would still be selectable. Perhaps the easiest method could be the find and select? I often like working with selection sets as well, or even the IFC manager can be useful for selections. Sorry I don't have a quick fix for that one:)
@neiliusflavius
@neiliusflavius 3 жыл бұрын
@@CONTRABIM I guessed that was the case. It would be really nice to just see the other elements for context - a bit like a trace reference. I keep being alternately amazed at what Archicad will do and frustrated at what it won't.
