I just wanted to say thank you for this video, as no one would tell me why my rhinestone designs weren’t laying correctly when I attempted to create new templates. Resizing to make sure the rhinestones could work for the image as well as selecting the correct font makes a big difference. Thanks again! PS. You even taught me about making a compound path so that the file would only have the one layer for importing into Cricut….thank you thank you!

A video that explained things in terms that I could understand! I didn't want to purchase silhouette business edition without having a clue of how to use it. Wow!! What a great tutorial! The best tutorial I've seen about making the template. There are a ton of videos on how to cut it, we get that, but getting the instructions no how to make the template and bring it over to cricut is the tutorial I was looking for, this was the tutorial to use! Hi Karley. I love this video. Is exactly what I was looking for. Looking forward to the next part because that is where my problem really is. I use Magic Flock for the rhinestones and thus far it's been a nightmare as to what material setting I should set it too. I always have to poke the holes of the material and that takes forever. Your next video would be so helpful. Thanks for sharing.

First, thank you for the video. It’s has helped me immensely. I have one issue, self made I’m sure, which is I can’t make the box tot surround the letter to give me the true dimension. Only the double box, if I’m saying it currently. When I click on the square I can’t get rid of the square, it doesn’t surround the letter. Can anybody diagnose what I’m doing wrong?

HELP PLEASE... IM STUCK! Thank you fir your video. I have attempted about 3 other methods of trying to make rhinestone templates. Yours is the 1st to get me super close. I checked the size of my holes for 10ss in Silhouette and they were .013, which is the size needed for 10ss. However, when I cut, the holes were too small. I’m not sure, but I feel as though the holes showed up smaller in silhouette after the make... (can’t think of the phrase) command. I just bought a Cricut on Sunday to try and make bling masks for my daughter’s 21st bday on 4/17 (this Sat). Please, please, please HELP! Thank you

This is a great tutorial! I have a Cricut and wanted to make rhinestone templates; my You Tube search led me here. Thank goodness. :-D I installed Silhouette, upgraded to Business edition (thanks for the $40 SAVINGS!), and off I went creating. Once my text (after sifting through lots of fonts) via Wordmark (neat tool!) was ready and converted to 16ss rhinestones, I saw some gaps that I filled in via the Freehand tool. All the stones appear to be visible and grouped, but when I select Make Compound Path, the stones I added are not included in the path. How do I fix it so that ALL are included?

Glad you did. Maybe you can help me with a problem. I can’t create the box that gives you the true dimension of the letter or word. I can’t stop creating squares. Should the square only be made when in the font mode? That’s the only thing that confuses me. Anybody who can help me figure out my mistakes please help.

I had to edit my artwork no matter the sizing. I know how to do that but when I release rhinestones, group and compound path...I lose a lot my circles. Also not sure of your next step on the triangle.

Wow!! Great video. My question is : I need to save money. I found the Design Studio plus program which is $20 bucks cheaper than the Business Edition. The only difference that I can see is the ability to print embroidery designs. Your thought? I only want to use the rhinestone template options.

I’m almost positive that you cannot export to SVG with designer. If you’re cutting with a silhouette- this doesn’t matter. But if you want to cut with your cricut- you need to export to an svg :)

When purchased, Silhouette business is it tied just to the laptop or computer you download on or can you download on more than one and just sign into it? Click the shapes panel and choose the square option. Unlock it to manipulate into a rectangle!

Hi! If I bought the program, does it let you upload other fonts or projects from other programs, websites or apps? For example, I like a font that's on an app called Phonto. Would I be able to upload a project from there into the Business program?

You can use any font that can be installed on your computer. If it can’t be downloaded and installed, you can export from phonto and bring it into silhouette studio and image trace it :)

Yes I’m making the template using silhouette studio. There are other programs- but this is the program I use and recommend.

I'm guessing that once you size a template in Silhouette it shouldn't change in Cricut. But I've noticed that once I upload the file in Cricut the size changes. How can I change this?

It’s something to do with how the programs interact because that’s not the case with other programs. I just click the image in silhouette studio so I know the dimensions. And manually resize in cricut!

You could manually create a template by placing circles. But nothing automated like silhouette. So I use silhouette studio business edition and then export it as an svg and cut it on my cricut.

Business Edition is a version of Silhouette Studio. You’ll export it as an svg and bring it into cricut :)

It uses the fonts that are installed on your computer. You can check out the fonts they sell in their design store!

i think i just messed up guys.. so i didnt have the silhoutte studio downloaded on my mac yet and i bought the business edition but now i tried to download it and its saying i cant open it because its a windows program can anybody help me...

You didn’t mess up- just download the Mac version here. www.silhouetteamerica.com/software Once you download it, you can upgrade it through the software by entering the license key. :)

You need to input the code into your software to unlock the extras :) Download and install the latest version of Silhouette Studio® if you have not already done so. Open the Silhouette Studio® program. Go to the “Help” menu and select “Upgrade Silhouette Studio” Enter your license key card code along with your Silhouette account credentials and click “Submit”
