I've already covered how to avoid star trails in astrophotography, but sometimes, it's just the effect you need to create a stunning photo. Star trail photography can seem challenging, both in-camera and in-post production, but hopefully by the end of this video, you will learn how to create the beautiful concentric streaks. In 2 minutes, I cover the different ways to create star trails and walk through the steps to creating star trails in Photoshop and StarStax. StarStax is a free program designed specifically to create star trails.

Let me know what you thought of the tutorial, and stay tuned for more photography animations coming soon. I have more "Camera Basics" tutorials in the making along with some on-location landscape photography videos.

Hello, everyone! I would just like to thank each and every one of you, whether you’re a subscriber or not, for 50,000! Back when I made this channel 18 months ago, I had no idea how much support I would receive for creating my photography animations. What began as an outlet for me to experiment with graphic design and apply some of my photography knowledge has transformed into a great community dedicated to helping others learn the science, art, and technique of photography. The response to my channel has truly motivated me to create better and better content, and I hope, through my videos, you have all shared the same passion for photography that exists in me. In the future, I will always keep uploading my animations, but I hope to produce gear reviews, vlogs, and other, more personal content. I understand this channel is lacking a personal connection, so I hope to fix that this year. Again, thank you all for 50,000 subscribers, and I hope you continue to surprise and motivate me along my KZfaq and Photography journey.

I found your videos on /r/photography months ago and subbed instantly, they help so much as an amateur photographer! Other videos are too long or difficult to understand, whereas yours are clear and straight to the point, with quality animations to provide a visual aid.. I love them! Not sure I'd watch vlogs personally, unless they were like Gab Politely, who vlogs his photography adventures and explains his techniques as he takes photos, but I'll definitely stay subbed to support the channel just for the tutorials and reviews. Thanks a lot!

Really nice. Quick, clear, and to the point. I had no idea It was that easy in Photoshop. Looks like I need to get out my shutter release timer!

Thanks, Andrew! Most people think it's a long and tedious process, but in reality, it's just a few clicks in Photoshop. Of course, if you want to be meticulous, you can use masks, take separate exposures, use calibration frames, etc., and given the response to this video, it looks like I need to make an advanced guide showing how to use those techniques.

The fact that the celestial poles can be photographed in both hemispheres blows the flat earthers scenario away.

I loved this video! As an amateur astrophotographer, I am trying out star trails and I first used StarStax but something odd happened and in short I would really appreciate an in depth tutorial about star trails. I also have photoshop. The reason for Starstax was simplicity seeing as I’m beginning and not yet experienced with the Post concerning astrophotography

How do I modify my camera to do an hour? I believe mine only does 30 seconds.
@TrevorRosenkilde
@TrevorRosenkilde 6 жыл бұрын
You would need to set it to "Bulb". That will allow you to press the shutter to open it and press again to close. I would recommend getting a remote shutter release to avoid camera shake.

Trevor Rosenkilde thanks for the reply. I didn't think my camera had bulb mode on it since I didn't see it in the dial or in the shutter mode. Just saw it in manual mode though haha.
