How to Create the Selective Color Effect in Lightroom CC

Selective color (making all the photo black and white except for one object in color) is a fun way to create a special look for your photo. It's also really easy to accomplish in Lightroom CC. This tutorial will show you how to use the brush tool in Lightroom CC and then how to adjust the effect to taste or for a more subtle effect.

Hi there thank you for this lesson. However, I have the newest version of LR CC, and I can't seem to find the erase button. I see healing, removing objects, and cloning. When I use the remove it literally removes the object. What am I missing, please?

Hi! As you've noticed Adobe has changed things quite a bit in how it deals with brushes, masks and erasing options since this video was made. If you're trying to erase from an existing brush, or mask, there's a couple of ways: 1) choose the "erase" brush option from the brush panel 2) in the Mask panel, on the mat you want to erase from, choose "Subtract" option and then brush in erase mode. Hope that helps! I don't use Lightroom CC very much, so please know that this comes from memory ;) Best wishes!

I’m assuming this can not be done with the mobile version of Lightroom? When I go to the brush I can only heal, remove and clone

As far as I know, you can accomplish this with the brush in the new(ish) Mask tool. It’s not the Healing Brush, which has heal, remove, clone options. The steps to create this effect are slightly different in more recent versions of Lightroom desktop, Classic and mobile.

Hi Bray! Yes - you can save the settings (presets). I have a video about time-saving tips in Lightroom here - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ft5hi6-hl9ishac.html. FYI - the video is about Lightroom Classic, but the principles apply to Lightroom CC. Hope that helps!
