WhatsApp can only be active in one mobile at a time. So if you have activated your WhatsApp on a mobile WITHOUT sim so messages would appear on that phone

You can use WhatsApp with our without the sim. Without the sim, you need a phone number for your phone. Sometimes you can use your landline phone number or someone who will allow you to use theirs. If you don't have a phone number you can borrow, you have have one randomly dealt to you, which is where I'm at. I'd like to use our old landline number but because we don't have it anymore, we can't answer it for the verification code. There are how-to's elsewhere. Just enter 'how to get a phone number for WhatsApp.
