I have 18 months of doing 4 to 5 hours a day and need to get a good structured approach. I rather noodle the pentatonic high way more than rhythm. Since my wife passed away I have started playing again after 18 years and 4 hours fly by . I know I have got much better but could do more with the time I am lucky to have.

Exactly what I was looking for (I guess the 30h Vai workout was a tad too intense). Thanks David for the content, the methodology, the pedagogy and all. Kudos from Singapore 🇫🇷🇸🇬

Structure is what I’ve been missing. And playing to drum tracks.

👍👏👏👏 enseigner ce n'est pas seulement montrer. Ce n'est pas non plus seulement expliquer. C'est aussi programmer, élaborer une progression, aider à organiser... Tu es l'un des rares à le faire. Merci.

A good approach to practicing. How does learning songs fit in though?

I also find it helpful to soft sing the notes I play.

As of right now, the link for the template in the student section is not working (for students who already have access to courses)

Good point! Those would be used as tools, but within one of the highlighted categories!

Creativity: try to play lick/riff/progression from song by ear Theory: understand the lick from the song, what intervals are those, does it use arpeggio, scale you know? maybe it have some formula you dont know? Technique: play the lick, try using different techniques to play it. Just practice it,/bring tempo up (depends how challenging the lick is) Creativity: play the lick/riff/progression in different place on the fretboard. do this for all licks/riffs/solos/progressions in the song and you not only learned song - you learned FROM it
