My first attempt at doing a video demo, this shows you how to create a crest plait for your horse using the method where you cross the outer strands under the middle section.

I love that you haven't pulled or cut your horses mane it is so beautiful in its natural state.

Nora Bissonnette were you being sarcastic(I can't tell, but I'm assuming that you are/that's why I liked your comment)
@Got2Bespoke
@Got2Bespoke 6 жыл бұрын
Amber Poeppel why would this sarcastic? It is beautiful and you can do lovely braids when the mane is longer. I have a Lusitano (the horse she’s braiding looks like she could be an Iberian) and we generally don’t pull their manes. Braids, braids, braids lol. It would be a crime to pull/cut their beautiful manes.

Not sure why it would be sarcastic, I would never cut or pull my horse's mane either. It now goes past his shoulders! Long manes can be high maintenance but they're totally worth it.

Just be careful braiding the withers bc that gets the most tension when the horse bends down to eat or drink causing irritation and rubbing...:)!

Madison Burnett I don’t tend to put them in this tight unless for a class and then they are only in for an hour or so. If the horse needs to put head down I split the plait 😁

Does the added strand of hair goes immediatly with the middle strand ? Or is it added to the left-most strand? It's a bit difficult to see

How long would these stay in without plaiting spray?
@cassygadsbyequine-coaching808
@cassygadsbyequine-coaching808 6 жыл бұрын
Esf. Eventing they would stay in fine with water. I tend to plait the horse about 30mins before the rider is due to get on, it will stay in all day, but is rather tight and so i tend to take them out once class is done. You can do a looser plait to keep hair out of the way

Its only for a show and not to leave in all day. If you do want to leave the braid in all day you can braid it looser.
@leylaave

This woman has the back bit of the mane (where the saddle pad goes over) clipped off. This does not cause the horse any pain, and, besides, this would only be left in for a few hours. The horses honestly don’t care at all. Was this horse showing any discomfort? No. This horse’s braided mane is beautiful. Although you believe it’s that easy to let the mane be ‘free’, it gets in the way of everything. This is why we braid. :)

Super cute but it's to tight for when the horse puts its head down
@cassygadsbyequine-coaching808
@cassygadsbyequine-coaching808 6 жыл бұрын
Alyssa Clayton yes which is why it’s only in for the class required and only put in just before rider gets on, you can do much looser plait for just keeping mane out of the way

I don't think the hourse is comfortable with this it is very tight ,not necessary horses are beautiful without this it is enough that they have tight bits and saddle
@leylaave
@leylaave 5 жыл бұрын
“tight bits and saddle”? What? Bits do not harm the horse whatsoever, depending on the rider. And the saddle doesn’t cause them any discomfort either. If we constantly had our horses’ manes in the way, it would be impossible to ride and it would get caught on everything. Go do some research before commenting. :)

@@leylaave Wouldn't say bits harm the horse but there are a lot of bits, of course that are severe on their tongue. The bars and the poll. And then there are thr tie downs, martingales and such, all kinds of tack to control a horses versus those who e I seen only use a hackamore only and get their animal to respond the same way a bit does but BETTERfor the animal. Bit users just need soft hands but I'm a believer for the havkamore. Courtesy of Rick Gore on KZfaq. You should check him out :D
