This is brilliant! Having found out that my eldest daughter is expecting her first baby , I followed your tutorial for crocheting granny squares . Then I followed yore tutorial for joining them together . Now I will make a border . Then I will have a beautiful baby blanket for my grand-daughter who will be born in April . Your tutorials are easy to follow and you are an excellent teacher . Thank-you . x

Thank you, Jayda. I know this is an older video, but still helpful and relevant. I made a continuous granny square afghan and the edges were very loose and flimsy. I searched for boarder videos and came across yours. I ended up using your single crochet border and it looks great and gives my edges the stability they needed. 🙂

I gotta tell ya ~ it still looks great with the Wool you chose for your Afghan! I wouldn't have known it had shrunk if you hadn't pointed it out! Thanks for the patterns! I love it! I must say I wasn't looking for my granny squares as I still have to stitch them all together. Would've been done a year ago except I went blind in one eye and it's taken me a New York Minute to get back on track! But now I have a gorgeous pattern to choose from, & I too just started Crocheting only 2 months before losing my vision! My goal was to make a Granny Square blanket and I'm so blessed I got to make the squares before my blindness. Now, after completing this one my NEXT Goal is: To make a 2'nd one!!

Finishing my first blanket! So excited since I just learned to crochet in March! Very simple half double crochet in a beautiful turquoise yarn. Now to put a border on it. This tutorial is perfect thanks! Is there a place to share a picture of my project?

Hi Jayda! Love, love your videos! I've watched them over and over and feel confident enough to begin this project - a granny squared, bordered, Afghan blanket for my daughter who is a real smuggle bunny. I want to buy the yarn asap so could you give me a rough idea of how many balls of yarn I would need for a child sizes blanket? I will be using a UK 6 mm hook. Many thanks xx

MotherGoose Hi again MotherGoose! Hmmm, this is always a tough call, especially since everyone's stitching is a little different and yarn size varies greatly too. If you're using a worsted weight (4 ply) - and these vary too - then I suggest approximately 2000 g. This would ensure a good-sized blanket with enough yarn left to either sew or crochet the squares together and add a border. It's always better to have leftovers than not enough! Now, if you're using a skinnier yarn, you need less yarn. Skinny yarn goes further than thick yarn. And I think (but am not entirely sure) that double knit is skinnier than worsted weight...in general. Ever yarn manufacturer has a slightly different method and standard. However, give it a go and have fun!

I have a question... how many rows do you normally do on your granny square boarder? I love how it looks and I can't wait to try it out!
