Learn how to crochet the 3D shell stitch in this tutorial video. Hi I'm Donna Wolfe from Naztazia. In this video I show how to make 3D shell stitches with a crochet hook. This shell stitch works up fast and easy for a crochet baby blanket and a crochet scarf. I'm using an G 4 mm crochet hook and worsted weight yarn.

Donna, I need to thank you from the bottom of my ‘yarn covered’ heart, for just giving minimal, BUT EXTREMELY CLEAR instructions on stitches!!! You don’t spend needless time on explaining each and every stitch you’ve made. Other videos I’ve struggled with give SO MUCH USELESS words of info that I’m confused before I even start. With your instructions, if I feel a little overwhelmed, I simply slow the video down. But either way, I LOVE your videos! Thank You So Very Very Much!? Stay Safe and Yarn Happy!

I found this pattern 2 weeks ago and fell in love!!! Didn't think I could do it so I looked and looked for something else that I really loved and thought I could do. Realized every time I ran across this one again that I want to make this and nothing else. Wish me luck I started doing a swatch this morning! I am determined to make it!

Beautiful pattern for various items. Thank You for sharing and teaching so clear and at good pace. To some other cricketers I need to turn on the close caption if available cause I don’t understand what they say.And they don’t show the step by step as close to the camera and open like you do. There’s few people I can fallow to learn a pattern or stitch. But you are very clear. Again, Thanks a lot.

Hi. I am Nicole. First off I love your videos. They are easy to follow. Now I do have a question about this shell pattern. I am half way done with a skein of yarn. It's bowing as I call it. After a little weight will it correct itself or do I have to pull it all out and try again?

@naztazia

Normally I go with whatever the label of the yarn says as the recommended hook size. If your label doesn't suggest anything, I would start with a K 6.5 mm and see if you need to move upwards or downwards in size.

Would the final row be a 1 or 2?
@naztazia
@naztazia 3 жыл бұрын
That's up to you. If you like the more straight edge and plan to add a border around, then I'd stop on the V row, since it will match the straighter starting chain. If you like more of shell edging, I'd stop on the shell edge. Decades ago I remember they used this stitch on doilies on the final several rounds (so the shell was usually the final one).

Doona im. Confused row 4 when do i do fp two together
@naztazia
@naztazia Күн бұрын
Row 4 is a repeat of Row 2. So the front post 2 together stitches will be done on the last leg of the last V stitch, and the first leg of the next V stitch. Then the shell stitches inside the actual V stitch.

You explain ' The shell stitch is what I call the pattern of 3 double crochet, a chain 1, and 3 double crochet stitches. The V stitch is a double crochet, a chain 2, and a double crochet made in the same spot.' I want to know what the multiple of the motif is so I can change the size. 😊
